I bought the car last week so i didnt get to practice launching with it till today. Mods are act 2100,air filter, and catback.

My first run was
15.8 @90..with a 2.7 60ft-launching at 3k. Bogged so much my knees hit the windshield wiper thing and it went on.

2nd run
15.5 @87..with a 2.5 60ft-launching at 3.5k. Still bogged but less.

3rd run
15.4 @90..with a 2.4 60ft-launching at 4k. Some bogging.

Last run
15.1 @89..with a 2.3 60ft..launching at 4.1k. Less bogging.

The temperatures were high 80s and low 90s. I'm not real happy with the times. I was hoping to run high 14s atleast, but with more practice, I think I can do it next time.

Practice, Practice, Practice! With the few mods you have plus a 14b on adequate boost should get you into mid 14s. I had the same mods you have with T25 and got 14.6 out of it in my FWD and I average about a 2.4 60' time.

are you just dumping the clutch or fethering it?? don't take offense to this but those are horrible 60ft's(When I went from awd to fwd I pulled to same times so don't take it as an insult). Here is how a found lauching a fwd works best. Rev the car around 3.5k so that you are pulsating the exhaust don't try and hold the rpm's at 3.5 I have found that to just make the launch worse. When its time to go, slip the clutch like you were launching an awd and once it starts to move give it about 70% throttle in first gear. This has netted me consistant 2.1 60''s on street tires. tha twould easily bring you to mid 14's if you pulled better 60ft's

It also looks like you are seriously lacking in the power department. 90 mph traps are really slow for a fwd. As a point of reference, my stock GST with only a boost controller trapped at 97 mph all day w/ over 110k miles on it. You may have a beat-up 14b that is just plain tired.

u must have better tires. mine is almost gone and theyre cheap. i guess i mostly dumped the clutch rather than feather because the first few launches bogged so much at the lower rpms and i just wanted to eliminate that by trying to launch higher. but yea, ill try feathering it next time.

yeah those traps are low. i have to get a boost gauge to see if im even boosting the stock boost.

eh, cheap bridgestones from the previous owner, that besides the point however. The slipping of the clutch will help you the most, just think of it this way and I am sure you will slip instead of drop. By slipping the clutch you just wear out the clutch. However by dumping the clutch you are destroying the clutch, placing huge strains on the axles(think snaping), possible wheel hop which equals holes in tranny. So if you think of it that way its either someone expensive by slipping or really expensive by dumping the clutch.

oh ya where in the bay are you located? I am in san mateo area.

Sounds like you have a tired 14b which was previously stated. I can launch at 2800 and spin all the way through first. I can only bog it if i try. I would be very dissapointed if I ran those times with my T25 and you have a 14B.

i think maybe something issss wrong with my car cus of the low trap speed. its good that your car is working properly...but "i can only bog if i try." just sounds cocky. no hard feelings man...guess i just need a new turbo or something.

pretty much stock except for the air filter, catback, and clutch. i dont have a boost gauge so i cant check if its leaking or not. i need to really get one.

ya you really need to get a boost gauge to see what levels you are at. I also really recomend checking for shaft play on your turbo. Just pull off the intake pipe and see how far the shaft moves back and forth, some movement is fine excesive movement is very bad.

Its koo man. Before you installed the turbo did you check the turbine housing for cracks? Maybe its cracked around the wastegate flapper and exhaust gases are escaping through there causing slower spool.

I bought the car already with the turbo, so I really dont know whats going and what not. I guess Ill check for shaft play like what 98eclipseRS said and take out the out whole turbo and check for cracks and such.

Also, I just ordered an autometer carbon fiber boost gauge. So that should be helpful.

i checked for shaft play and there arent any. so i duno what now. i was reading other threads like where to shift at with a 14b and people say different things. some say near redline or at redline, some say 6500 or lower. so could that be my problem? where i shift at? because i shifted at around 6500 1st gear, and on 2nd and 3rd around 6500 or less. that probably explains my low trap speeds?

15.1 was your best time? I have a front wheel drive with the stock T25 and an air filter and I ran a 15.02. where you located r u in a higher elevation or something. I mean with a slightly bigger turbo and catback you should be runnin better times than me. Or am I just that good (just jokin) hope you drop those times man.

Hey I ran a 15.1@92 when my car was stock. With a 2.3 60'.

Not to sound stupid but how the hell do you bog launching at 4100??? Maybe you have a 14b/60-1 sleeper turbo  Sounds like something is amiss with your car because you should be at full boost by 3200 at the latest :dsm: .

i duno..o well with that ### 14b. i just bought a ported Big 16g this week. so, things will change!
