I was coming home on the highway a couple months ago, and ran him from a 60 roll, we were dead even through third gear, and he pulled about a carlength on me when I shifted to fourth. I had no idea they were that quick. From what I could tell he had an exhaust and was a 5-speed.

since they share the same block as supras they have the potential to be real fast, a lot of people boost em, you should check out is300.net

IS300's are pretty quick from what ive heard and seen. My cousin ran his Jetta Vr6 and totally got raped by a stock Is300. But cunnin is right, since they share the same block as the Supra (3.0 L 2JZ-GE inline-6), they can be killer machines. I actually have this one magazine called "modified" and there is an IS300 that is pushing 614 whp, 614 lbs/ft of torque @ 30 PSI and is running 11.40 @ 128 MPH with street tires and pump gas. And also, if you go to Racingflix.com, you will find many IS300's putting the hurt on cobras, Z06's, and etc.

I personally don't think thet are that quick stock. although the heavily modded ones like the one in modified are very rare. potentially fast and heavily modded has little to do with a basically stock is300...

Power: 215 HP @ 5,800 rpm; 218 ft lb @ 3,800 rpm. Nothing to be afraid of...

IS300s are slow in my opinion. i personally have driven one, and they are piss slow. they look so nice, but yet are still the low end of the lexus line up. could be the reason why they are slow.

thats the thing i havent driven one...but ive seen a few do some heavy ass whooping..but maybe because they were really boosted or something..but i did race an IS300 with an exhaust..from a 45-100 Roll i beat him about 4 cars. But as much hype ive heard..i thought maybe my win was some kind of fluke?? But i guess i was wrong..my GST raped it.

They have great potential but are just too heavy for their stock 215 hp.

A stock dsm should beat a stock is300 they do 0-60 in almost 7 secs us its like 6.4-6.7 and so on. Maybe he had some stuff done or were you stock? if you were stock and he was modded that may be why. Otherwise mod for mod you shoulda taken him.
Andrew

He had to have a couple of mods. He put a car length on me when I shifted to 4th, he defintly was modified, I have raced another STOCK IS300 5-speed and walked him. My car totally looses boost at the top of 4th and I start rebuilding boost towards the bottom of 4th. Maybe its a boost leak, maybe its just the shitty T25.

You probaly raced an automatic IS, they are piss slow.

The 5-speeds run around 15.4 at 90MPH, not too slow.

But this IS300 defintly had a few mods.

Their potential to be real fast still isn’t very good. Yes, they have a strong block. However the is300 transmission is very weak. From a tuner perspective there is going to be a ceiling on how fast you can make the car before dumping a lot of cash into it. Supra trans and rear ends aren’t cheap. That’s why there aren't many fast is300 other then those few we see in magazines and videos.

And 15.4 @ 90mph is slow for a rear drive car..

He could of had nitrious, for all I know. I have beaten faster cars like WRX's, so I know its not my car. If I would of spooled I would have been passing him, he shut down right as I came up on his rear tire.

What area where you in when this happened?
What color was his car? Any other identifying attributes I can look out for? I would like to keep an eye out for him..

Black IS300, around exit 117 on the GS parkway.

my friend had intake and catback on his is300 I had my injen intake and I walked him by like 3-4 cars from a stop then from a second gear roll he hung with me through 2nd but once I hit third it was over I pulled on him like he was standing still, and his is a 5 speed. So what I am saying is that he must of had some kind of major power adder.

when i was on the is300.net forum, there was a guy who ran a 14.9 bone stock 5-speed. was the fastest stock time when i was in there. i think he has a 2jz-gte swap now. too expensive for my blood.
