ive pulled heads off of damn near every single year model and ive never seen a headstud thats on my 99 gst. its not the standard allen head bolt. its a stud that has a 12 point head. ive tried everything from 6 point to 12 point 12,13, 1/2, ad 7/8 and all want to round the bolt. is there some special mitsubishi tool i need?????

That's interesting. The only time I've seen 12point bolts instead of Allens is when arps are used. At the same time I've never pulled the head off a 99 so Im sorry I couldnt be any real help. Are you sure they are not arp studs?

Mine were 12-point 12mm. If you're slipping, try getting better quality sockets (seriously) or pick up a set of 12-point standard sized sockets and see if those fit.

I have a set of Harbor Freight special 12-point sockets that want to round anything off that they touch. However, my Snap-On 12-point sockets have never slipped. They are both metric.

So, is it a bolt or a stud and a nut? Studs have 'nuts', not 'heads'. Not trying to knitpick, but terminology matters.

'99's came with the same OE bolts that the other 2g 7-bolts came with. If you have studs in there, then they're aftermarket. The allen head bolts are 6-bolt specific.
