Assembling my head at the moment and I took the regrinds out of storage. I did measurement checks on the journals and the intake is pretty spot on. No out of round. The exhaust has seen better days though. They're slightly out of round. Very small though, don't even know if it makes a difference. I'm getting variations between .0001 to .0003 at 90* from each other. Also the journals have some sort of black buildup. It doesn't seem like rust and I can catch it a bit with my fingernail. Should I send it to a machine shop for micropolishing? Or would I be fine with some crocus cloth? Picture shown is what I deem the worst of it. The other journals have spots here and there.

I Usually take some 1,000 grit and polish them up if they look like that, than finish with some 2000.

Try some red scotch brite, polish it under a parts washer fluid.

Make sure to clean and blow out the oil galley in the cam
