I picked up a really clean 1GB. Broke t-belt. I pulled the valve cover off, and 5 of the head bolts have been helicoiled.

I would never do this myself, but it has been done already. My main question is can this block be used? I'm thinking about fixing all of the messed up holes, make sure the holes are good and STUD IT.

Is this a good or bad decision? I think with studs in there, it really should not make such a big deal seeing that the torque area is where the nuts meet with the stud, NOT where the bolt thread meets the block.

Whatcha think???

From what I've heard helicoils are t least as strong as the original material. If it torques to specifications, there isn't much more you can do.
