My question is has anyone used cryogenics to treat a thrust bearing? I read the thread about the graphite treatment and thought shit together that might be a strong piece once treated.

Coating the bearing, or making it harder is not the answer. A load surface should never contact the bearing anyway. Some how the oil film in between the crank and thrust surface needs to be maintained.

I just posted this last night, actually. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...earing-modification-crankwalk-prevention.html

This will assist in keeping the thin oil film between the rear thrust face and the crank's thrust surface maintained. Helping overcome pre-mature thrust bearing failure and bearing wiping (of course, those two go hand in hand). Read through the thread I think you guys will like it.

I also posted pics of my own thrust bearing I did this to. Also, I had my main bearings graphite coated.
