Well picked up a bare block and crank and now I'm gonna pick up some pistons and rods. But I have a couple questions...

1. What else do I need to pick up besides pistons and rods in order to complete my block?

2. What all should I have the machine shop to do the block prior to assembling the bottom end? I don't really want to sound like a newb when I walk in there and i'd like to have a list of stuff I'd like done to the block apart from assembling it.

Well since no one else posted, you need obvious things like new bearings and i'd gow ith new main bolts or Arp main studs. bolts are just fine though.

You need the bottom end gasket set and a oil pump and front cover. all in good condition.

As for question number 2 Get it cleaned checked for cracks and any inpurites they so by magnafluxing. honed or bored if needed or desired, Decked (resurfaced) if the block deck is slightly warped or using a mls head gasket. check and see if the main journals need to be aligned (lined) honed or not then they will tell you what size oversize bearings you need. and have it punched (new freeze plugs)

It would also be a good idea to do some checking around and find a machine shop that has a 4g63 torque plate to use while honing the motor. You might not have anyone local but it would be a good idea if you could find someone.
