harness bar input

So I have a set of racing harness for my car and even though I have a roll cage because of the seats and how tall I am the harness bar on the main hoop sits too close to the back of the seats for me to feel comfortable about the angle they would sit at if I used the harness bar as their attachment point.

I was thinking of making a harness bar that would mount to the rear strut tower as the harnesses that I have a long enough to reach that location no problem.

My question is what would be a good choice material wise for the bars construction?

I was thinking something like a steel angle iron so it would have the rigidity to absorb the impact and not break if I was ever in an accident or hit the wall at the track.

And anyone that says aluminum strut bar from ebay go falcon punch yourself because you obviously have no clue.

1.5" .120 wall mild steel or .083 wall cm tubing will suffice. as far as using the strut tower ihave wouldnt. you want the bar to be level with your shoulders or no more than 4" below otherwise you run the risk of compressing your spine inthe an accident. ihave usall setup my harness bars about .5" below the drivers shoulders.

Have you considered a rallye 3 set up attached to the c pillar, like so:

i have the corbeau double locking harnesses that can go to the c pillar but i wasnt sure how they should attach. do you have pics of the location you used for your raylle harnesses

Are you able to run the oem bolt, that held the seatbelt bracket in place, through end bracket on the harness?

I know this isn't your question, but IIRC harnesses can stretch 1" for every 3".

As long as the shoulder harness angle to the point of support is between horizontal and 10° below horizontal and perpendicular to the rear of the seat you should be alright safety wise.

Are you using a 5pt?
