Help with installing Supra fuel pump

I can not get the pump to set down in all the way. It is hitting the plastic housing for the electrical wires for the fuel tank guage. How did you get this to clear. This is going in a 2g AWD. I have looked at the VFAQ. I also can not get the rubber piece to fit very good.

I tired a supra pump and took it back and bought a walbro for $90.. its just alot of trouble... too much..
