Hey guys, Im running C14+ tonight in my gsx, Its the highest possible octane gas i could find in this stupid town, i tried to get c16 but they wanted to sell it to me in a 50 gallon drum

Here are the specs on the gas

C14 PLUS
Recommended for high rpm, ultra high compression engines over 14:1 when additional octane is required while maintaining the same burn rate and specific gravity of C14.

• Color: Clear
• Lead: 6 Grams per gallon
• Motor Octane: 115
• Specific gravity: .690 at 60° F

and here are the specs on C-16, im posting this cause i know tons of people use c16 and have never had problems with it.

C16
Used in: Turbocharged engines, blown engines and nitrous applications. NHRA Comp Eliminator spec fuel. Recommended by the top nitrous oxide companies.

• Color: Blue
• Lead: 6 Grams per gallon
• Motor Octane: 117
• Specific gravity: .730 at 60° F

By the specs there are not much diffrent exept for the "used in" part

Has anyone ever ran this gas before?
Or want to let me know anything about it?

thanks in advance
matt

Specific Gravity (SG):
Density of the fuel. (a) This is the weight of fuel compared to water, water being at 1.00. If race fuel is .750 (specific gravity) it would weigh ¾ the weight of water. If water at 60 degrees Farenheit weighs 8.125 pounds per gallon (ppg), then race fuel at .750 will weigh 6.09 (ppg). (b) The less dense the fuel (lower specific gravity) the higher the BTU content and the better the stability of the fuel at higher RPM's. (c) The lower the specific gravity of the fuel, the more crucial the jetting becomes, and the easier it is to run the engine lean, possible causing internal damage. (d) The combustion speed is determined primarily by the pressure (density) of the fuel mixture. A lower (SG) or viscosity fuel will flow more through an orifice (jet) and a higher (SG) or viscosity will flow less.

Taken from http://www.smithtex.com/racing/fuelcomp.html

The C14+ is less dense, so it will weight slightly less.

That is all teh info I can find.

Matt,

It's good gas */ not as good as C16 /* ... turn up the boost and be prepared to have fun.

My only advice would be to turn the boost up to 22psi or so and make small deductions on the fuel side of things (while logging each run).

Well, your first adjustment can be a sizeable one like maybe pulling 5-10% across the board, but keep an eye on the logger and watch for what looks like knock. Then it's simple programming:

If Knock = 0
then pull a couple % fuel
else, add a couple % fuel

You know, basic tuning ... race gas will just make your experience more fun.

Let us know how it goes...

Thanks alot for the advice matt and pete, Shit hit the fan though, i got to the track, and then they wouldent let me in cause it was too late, i dont even wanna talk about how pissed i was, now i have 5 gallons of this gas in my car and nothing to do with it, god damnitt this is ### !!!!!!!!!!

Easy solution to save the race gas. Get a two sided barbed fitting and some fuel line from an auto parts store. Pull the fuel return line, put the barbed fitting on, and let the contents enter into the gas can. I have a relay so I can turn the pump on while the car's not running, also great for emptying any reamining pump gas.

DSMlink also allows you to toggle yoru fuel pump on so that you can drain your fuel tank if you really wanted.

huh??

You keep the gas to the floor all the way down the track, whenever you push the clutch in to shift the car rev limits at a preset rpm, 5500 or 6k or whatever you want. This equals less missed shifts and a couple pounds of boost already kicked in when hitting the next gear, just like the stutterbox launch.
