What are my options as far as going with a stock replacement or aftermarket. Is it hard to hook up a air cooled system on a 2g? What kind of price difference am i looking at between stock and aftermarket units? Any help??

I have an extra stock unit for a 2G if your interested. I plumbed an external unit on my 7 bolt before I got crank walk. I think total it cost me around $300.00 with everything. Its a pain in the arse, lets just say that much.

Well I thought I had the part with me. I'm in the process of moving and the part is in Indiana in storage. If your willing to wait a month, which I doubt you are, I could have it then. Sorry I thought I had it sitting here with me in Missouri.

I you wanted to do an oil cooler I would probably do that in conjunction with a oil filter relocation kit from Summit to maximize oil cooling. Not only would you have a cooler but you would be getting more oil and moving the filter away from the ultra hot downpipe.

The only problem would be overall price. To do it properly with stainless steel lines and Russell fittings would probably cost at least 300 bucks. But you would get VERY nice results. Or you could always do it the cheap way and buy another stock unit from a junkyard.

Well im pretty sure i am going to go with an aftermarket setup. I am not sure what i would need and what this whole project involves, like deleting the stock oil cooler(is it a pain in the a$$) and also what kits work with my car and which ones work best. If anyone is running a aftermarket Oil cooler system on a 2g feel free to jump in now.:)

You will need a block adaptor for an external cooler, an actual mitsu part that will replace your defective unit (Which I do have for sale!) $65.00 Usually $100.00 mine is tapped for an external oil temp sensor an oil pressure, but can also use stock. Here is a link to what it looks like.

You will need to order two of the longer bolts that hold the existing adaptor on the block due to the new adaptor being a bit more longer on the casting in two spots than the other. Those can be ordered from the dealer. Just have them pull up the drawing of the stock oil filter bracket and order two of the longest bolts that hold it in place on the block. Also while you are there order a new gasket for the block adaptor. The gasket is the same as the stock unit.

B&M external Cooler Summit has them for about $100.00, Don't use there relocation kit, its a POS just use the stock one on the block adaptor.

Various AN Connectors and braided hose, you can get them from a local race shop or summit $75.00

You will need to pull the radiator or mount it in a spot where it won't interfere with any other component. If you have an eclipse and don't have an auto tranny the opening that is covered on the front driver side would be a good spot. Simply pull the cover and find a clever way to mount the cooler to get the most surface to air coverage.

That sould do it. If I were you I would put in a oil temp gauge and oil pressure gauge that read numbers so you know exactly what you are running.

Let me know if your interested in that block adaptor. Hope that helps.
