Quick question. If I am buying a 6 bolt shortblock (complete with rods, pistons, and crank), and also buying 1g rods with 2g pistons on them, what else should I replace in the block when I swap the rods and pistons? Thanks.

Check the crank and see if its worn out unevenly or if it has too many scratches, the bearings might need to be oversized. A machine shop will confirm if it needs to be bored.

might as well get clevites.

Ah this is a junkyard motor.
Nevermind.

In my case even after 190k the motor showed no wear even on the rod bearings. And after all the horror stories of 6bolts walking after rebuilds from unknowledgable people. I decided to leave mine as is.

If you manage to spin a crank bearing, you shouldnt belong in a car.

don't know if you should turn regrind the crank. I would buy a new crank from the factory.

Take the short block to a good Machine Shop and let them tell you what you HAVE to do with it.
