Is the t3/t4 turbo a t3 turbine inside a t4 housing? What is the difference between that and the t4 turbo? Is there a difference? Which one is bigger, better, and can handle more HP? Basically, what are the specs of the two turbos, and what is the difference? Any feedback would be great!!!

Ok, you obviouslt know NOTHING about turbos =)

T3 is a series of turbos thats rather small and was always intended for 4 cylinder small displacement production cars. They are not bad but don't like boosting high numbers very much. The biggest T3 compressor side in the super 60....I would say its probably somewhere in the 14b/16g area in flow. Works great, but its not going to want to run 20 psi on a 2 liter.

The T4 was made for diesal trucks and thus can boost the high numbers we want on our motors and flow the air we need...The exhaust sides however were designed for diesal trucks with 6-8 liters of displacement. To big, we can't use them effectively.

The solution was using a T3 exhaust side to spool a large T4 compressor.

Theres alot of different combinations

T3 Exhaust wheels are generally rated in stages....stage 1, 2 and 3

T3 Exhaust housings are in aspect ratios, or a/r....the common are .48, .63. .82

T4 Compressor housings come in TO4B, TO4E, and TO4S

T4 Compressor wheels come in trims..commonly seen are 46, 50, 54, 57, 60 and the 60-1(not a trim, just a name, and significantly larger then a 60 trim)

so a t3/t4 is better then a t4 for any car that will ever be driven on the street.

What about all the T series turbos?

I think you have that oversimplified just a bit Sean. While that is almost always correct you seem to be implying that a T4 turbo would be a laggy undriveable turd on the street and you are WAY off if that is what you are suggesting. You would be shocked how quickly my buddy HighPsi91 is seeing boost on his T4 with a 63mm compressor. Then when you start getting into 4g64s then a T4 becomes a GREAT solution.

Yes yes, I know about all of that, but go read the guys original post and you tell me if I should really try to explain the T series(remember, I said commonly seen wheels, I never stated it was a comprehensive list, and in his experiance with DSM's I think I listed the wheels 99% of DSM'ers have in garrrent combos....I also left out both exhaust housings, compressor housings, and turbine wheels...Perhaps I should have mentioned Stage V, Thats a nice turbine.).You think I should have mentioned streatable T4's? I am just guiding him towards a decent T3/TO4E combo, because that is plenty for anyone who asks the specs of a T4. You can talk about turbos for HOURS but I think I gave a good starting line on anything that might apply to him.

My post was not to win technical merit points, but to help him out. You also would have oversimplified had you been the original poster.
