if i were to buy this turbo for my eclipse gst 2g. would i need to buy anything else. or could i just bolt it right up and have more hp. i am new to turbo systems so please dont be too harsh. are there many supporting mods i would need? i am looking for around 280-300 hp. thank you

I am not sure... do you have a turbo in your car already?? please list waht you have done to your car..

When you talk about t3/t4 you are talking about turbos that can flow enough air for 100- 100000000 hp. (sorry got a little excited) It just depends on what wheels are in the turbo.

all i have is hks bov, hks exhaust, and hks intake. And the stock turbo in the 2g gst. so what all would i need to get?

is your car a RS?? How did you get a turbo on to it?? What is you engine management??

no no no........i said i have a 2g eclipse gst. not the rs. sold the rs. got a gst. sorry...im not sure what management. whatever the stock one is i guess.

OK.. To get a t3/t4 to physically bolt up you need=

A new exhaust manifold
External wastegate
some way to attach the turbine housing to your downpipe. (custom work or Turbotrix sells a nice o2 housing for a t3/t4 to bolt up)

If you get too big of a wheel combo you WILL have to get larger injectors and some sort of fuel management (afc).

If you do not have... a 3" downpipe, hard intercooler piping, ect..

I would spend my money on them first before I thought about a t3/t4 turbo.

alright.....thanks for the help. would you reccomed this turbo for my first turbo upgrade or would it be wiser to get something like the big 16g

I think IPT set you straight on this one. I actually glossed over this one last night because your profile says "RS" and you were asking about T3/T4 turbos. I didn't think I had the time to set you straight. : )

The Garrett T3/T4 family is capable of trememdous HP. Even with the smaller wheels, they make some serious power. I agree with IPT--start with other modds first and work your way up to a Garrett in after your car is ready for it---because it won't handle it well stock. Good luck!

Alright, you people make my head hurt. Rule of thumb for 2G upgraded turbos is to upgrade the fuel system as well. ALWAYS install an upgraded pump before even turning up the boost on the T25. You do have a boost guage, EGT, and air/fuel meter RIGHT?? These are necessities for proper tuning. Fuel upgraded include 550's (for the best timing curve on an upgraded turbo since the 2G ecu loves to pull timing), AFC to tune the larger injectors for best timing advance, and the above mentioned guages. There are plenty of online resources that tell you all this and more that you MUST read before you even think of modding your car. Oh yes, the factory service manual is a must as well.

BOW DOWN TO ME!!

Sorry I just got a big head there for a sec.

When I was talking about the really small garrett stuff.. I have seen garrett turbos on jetskis and 5hp brigs and stratton motors (this one was fuel injected and ran alky) They wheel for these turbos had and inducer the size of a quarter.

First off, Blitzed95Eclips, please change the car listed in your profile from an RS to the GS-T so people know how to respond to your question - also list the mods in your profile instead of saying "too many to list"... People will be able to take the time to help you out if you take a little extra time to let everyone know what you got first.

I'd suggest taking a look at the Tuning Guide here on this site first:

One thing you have to keep in mind - and IPT did say this already, but I wanted to stress it, the T3/T4 turbos don't bolt up to Mitsubishi exhaust manifolds and O2 sensor housings, so you'll have to buy those parts which are made to fit that turbo. This is only an issue if you ever want to change turbos, since you'll have to change back to a Mitsu housing and manifold for just about any other turbo. Just something to keep in mind... it's a great choice for power though. One of our sponsors sells a whole T3/T4 kit with manifold, external wastegate, O2 sensor housing, and lines/fittings/gaskets/ hardware for about $1700.

ALWAYS install an upgraded pump before even turning up the boost on the T25.
When I read this one I got a little scared. I have been told that it is ok to turn up the boost to 14 PSI with my stock T25 without changing the fuel pump.

I agree about doing the supporting mods first. I was thinking of going to the 16 G myself, but I wanted to get everything else in place first.

Bingo! Except for the whole 'gotta have a fuel pump to turn up the boost on the T25' thing. Before you upgrade your turbo, definitely. But the T25 is a focking hair dryer and no-one plans on running a T25 over 16 psi, right? :) What are you smoking Joe? :D

Rewire the fuel pump no matter what pump you get. The flow ratings are based on 12v inputs and as the voltage drops, so does the flow.

ok thanks for all the help guys. i got my profile changed

<------see...... sorry i just sold my rs and upgraded to the gst

Well, given our audience in this arena, I figured I'd give that advice, being that it's at the top of most tuning guides. Watch it there "Mr I'm Almost a Fookin Canuck". :D
