T-28 Turbo plan on runnin 18psi 19 at the most when all supporting mods are in.
750cc Injectors
255 Walbro
AFPR from STM

I heard a couple of times that its ok to keep stock wiring with the 255 walbro since its a mammoth of a pump.

Rewiring seems like a hassel and I cant find a diagram for the 2g AWD and I'd rather not hassel with stock wiring, but if its needed im gonna do it thats why im asking:D

I ran my 255 unrewired on a 20g which is similiar in size to a t28 and had no issues. Also wiring isnt really THAT hard, takes about a good 2 hours, and all the walkthroughs avaliable for it are easy to follow if you do decided to do it eventually.

Alright a 20g flows more so i think i'll be fine.. I have no idea if it makes any difference but most people run 91 octane im running 93.. Again no idea if that makes any difference to how hard the pumps working.

Is it necessary? No
Is it a good idea to do it while you are replacing the pump anyways? Yes

A rewire kit it only ~$30 from most vendors. You could also make your own for less. You will be fine without it, but one day in the future you may wish you did it when you replaced your pump. You should always plan ahead for future mods when upgrading your car.

Only people in Califonia run 91 :)
Octane levels dont effect how hard the pump works, BUT octane does effect predetonation resistance. The higher the octane, the less of a chance of getting knock. :thumb:

Thanks guys. Appreciate the quick responses, I might actually do it so I dont have to worry about it down the road still unsure, I just don't want something to go wrong if I don't rewire now with this setup but if I get it I think im gonna get it from STM

^^^ Agreed

You don't need it, but it wouldn't be a bad idea either. Years ago, I was making 400 WHP running a 50-trim at almost 30 psi with a single non-rewired 255 pump, so you're definitely in the clear.

A reason for "its a good idea" is if the voltage drops off to the pump. The smaller line may restrict voltage to the pump making it work harder and the wire may heat up.

So you'll still have the same restriction (just less of it) as no one rewires it properly all the way to the pump itself. Instead, it's just finished at the plug.

If anything, re pin the plug with the larger gauge wire that is the same or larger than the wires coming off of the pump.

When I re-wired mine, I bypassed the factory plug and went straight to the pump with heavy gauge wire. Flow fa sho. :)

Now you have me wanting to pull mine and redo it! What type fittings did you use for the wires going into the sending unit?

Oh LiquidX I guess I should have went into a little more detail as well. (mines not totally proper either :shhh:)

Thanks gst_racer you always have got me thinking ever since I saw the pics on your turbo set up.
Did you use the hazardous ones or the standard? An insulated electrical bulkhead connector may not be a bad idea either. I think a write up might be in order.

i did a 6 bolt swap in my 94 talon and its not idling right.
we did a boost leak test. re did the timing and my friend messed around with the cas and still wont stay idling.
his next guess would be that my walbro 255 is either burnt or not getting any current.
but when i give it throttle it revs good but still wont stay idling by itself.
i only have the stock non turbo fuel pump extra.
but my main question is. could it be because my walbro needs a rewire??

I'd say it could be but I'd start looking elsewhere first...unless it needs to be rewired from a previous rewiring.

That sounds like a different issue than a walbro fuel pump on stock wiring to me, especially since it revs...if you give it more gas it should run crappier if the pump is failing, or not at all.
