So, I finally found that damn exhaust leak that developed last fall.

I had been playing with anti-lag a bit too much one day and the engine developed a noise. For the life of me, I couldn't put 'two and two together' to figure out why it sounded like an exhaust leak up by the intake manifold. Well, this make complete sense now.

I'm running a Magnus SMIM, so no EGR set-up. It seems that the gasket melted and blew completely out after using Anti-lag. Anybody else ever experienced this problem? It would be nice if Magnus also offered this same gasket without the EGR port cut in it. I'd imagine that the majority of the people using this gasket probably don't run the EGR system anyway. I plan to just weld the hole shut on the head to remedy this issue.

Ohh well, just figured I'd share this.

Wow, thanks for sharing, I guess I should be conservative with the antilag for other reasons than just preserving the turbine.

PS- Does this mean the compound turbo setup is up and running?

If you insist on running antilag, that gasket will not take the heat from it. it doesnt matter if it the hole is cut in it or not. You must close off the EGR port in the cylinder head. by tapping it and threading it with an NPT port. The gasket is only meant to withstand temperatures of up to 300 degrees, not 1700 which can easily be reached with antilag going through the egr port.

I wish it was up and running. It'll be a few more weeks.

This gasket blowout was from last fall. I just recently got around to doing something with it.

Thanks for the post, Pete. I ended up just welding the hole shut on the head and I've already replaced the heat barrier gasket with an OEM gasket. :thumb:
