new T4 turbo, now... How to install?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Every week or two someone comes on here asking the same questions. They just bought some weird tractor turbo, and want to bolt it on their DSM. Here's the same story we always give. What you have there would not only cost you an arm and a leg to make fit, but will perform like complete crap. The turbine side is about twice as big as what you want, it would lag to almost redline. Long story short, sell it on Ebay and buy a turbo made for your car.

You do not want to use that thing. If you want a T3/T4 we have have a member in our club here in Fort Wayne that can get them for not much more than that one.

That turbo has a .96 A/R housing!!!

That is wayyyyyy too big for your car. A .48 is good for a quick spooling turbo where you wanna make 350hp a .63 is enough for upto 500hp.

A .96 is for like a supra or something of equily large displacement that can spool a large back end like that. That turbo only has a .60 turbine housing which can be had on a T3/T4 so it will run out of breath just like a T3/T4 will with that same compressor housing contrary to what that dork said. Just that the exhaust is sooo much larger it will be a super laggy turbo. A civic would NEVER spool that unless it was a GSR that was built 10:1 with forged pistons. That dude just unloaded a POS turbo on you that is totally not made for your car. He put words like Civic Eclipse Prelude in there to draw views. It says mustang, this turbo would be ok on a mustang cause it's a V8.

well I thank you all for the feed back. I should have asked the wizards about this a long time ago. I thought I had a reliable souce, but apparently he was mistaken. I appreciate all the feedback. Craige what kind of deal could we hookup? I was also wondering if there is a turbo and A/R rating you guys would recommend that I could find in the same price field. Thanks again!.

there a million freakin turbos for your car that you could get. plan on spending anywhere from $600 on up.

Remember the biggest turbo upgrade on Grand Turismo 1? Remember how laggy it was? That was cool. This turbo reminds me of that.

Exactly.

This is why I avoid eBay.

Yeah, so I have to pay 100 bucks more for something. At least I KNOW I'm getting the right thing.

It's unwise to pay too much, but it's unwise to pay too little.
When you pay too much you lose a little money, that's is all.
When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything,
because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing
you bought it to do. The common law of business balance
prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. It can't be done.
If you deal with the lowest seller, it's well to add something
for the risk you run. And if you do that, you will have enough
to pay for a better service and product.
