I am getting an EGT gauge in the near future. I read the VFAQ on how to install the probe. I really don't like the idea of letting little metal shards go through my turbo (even at idle) and then possibly clog my cat. The only way to avoid this, as far as I know, is to remove the exhaust manifold. I figured that if I'm going to take it off, I may as well get it ported while it's off. I've got 2 questions:
1. Will it benefit or hurt my stock T25 to have a ported exhaust manifold attached to it? (I already have a 3" turbo back with O2 eliminator)
2. Would it be better to wait until I upgrade my turbo to do the porting to make sure that the exhaust manifold matches the turbine housing? I think (hope) my turbo upgrade will be an AGP L1R. The website says the L1R has a "ported turbine housing" while the L2R comes with a "ported 7 cm or 8 cm turbine housing". Does that mean that the L1R has the same size turbine housing as the T25?
Thanks for any help!
