So, I found this wired into the battery on my newest parts car. It's just a simple power and ground set-up.

My guess is it's some sort of capacitor used for engine cranking (starting), but I'm not quite sure.

Anybody know exactly what this is? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Paul-

YEa it looks like those ebay "Voltage stabilizers"

"This is a 100% Brand New JDM racing voltage stabilizer which can increase HP, torque, improve fuel economy, car response up, stable idling, quick engine start, lesser engine noise and optimize electrical equipment performance. It also maximizes the efficiency of all factory vehicle electrical systems, allowing smoother engine operation, more efficient electrical component operation, and improved electrical current.

The stylish voltage stabilizer box compliments any engine bay with its attractive case design. It stores electrical energy at al time to provide stable and sufficient electrical energy whenever there is a voltage drop across the supply when power needed from all parts in the can. It also maintains better fuel mileage with improved combustion. Installation is easy, just connect the red wire to power and blue wire to ground.
Fits: Universal fit all cars"

Heh, if it really did all that I could really use it right now. LOL

Crack it open and show us the inside. I bet there's like a safety pin for a fuse in there. :D

Doesn't look all that complicated... so like those vortex cone creators, it's useless?

I'm suprised the wire didnt just go in, change colors, and go right back out.

That would probably catch itself on fire pretty quickly, and destroy your battery.

Look at the size of the leads on the capacitor compared to the mains. What a joke. Ill bet 50% of the cost of one of those is profit, 25% the case, 15% is the power cables, and 10% is the actual board and its components.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking, but the case is oh so pretty :p . Actually what are we talking about, how can a JDM Ralliart product be crap LOL

Most of those devices I see are rated at 75 amps. My setup draws about 85 to 90 amps daily driving, more with headlights. I had to get a 165A alt to compensate. This thing would be fried in my car even if it did what it advertised.
