Stock turbo

I have a 97 TSi and i wss wondering what could i do to get good performance gains on my car but without having to change turbo or intercooler and whats the max i can go on stock turbo and intercooler.

The stock T25 is inefficent over 16psi of boost. It will run more but you aren't doing that much more for yourself. Make sure you plan on getting rid of the stock 2G BOV/CBV. It's made of plastic and tends to leak. As far as the stock intercooler goes, I believe there have been a few mid 12's with a stock IC and an upgraded turbo.

Well Im not sure how long the t25 would last, but Larry's dyno's showed power incrrease with every psi of boost added above 15 with his t25. He made the most @ 18psi

I ran mine @ 19+ for at least 8 months before upgrading and had no probs.

However you probably could have made even more power by running at 16ish lbs of boost. Bad advice sucks!

based on track times, the 19+ was MUCH better than 16 on the bottom end. It ran out of steam on the top end much quicker though.
16 psi and staying in 3rd yielded slower times than 19-20 and shifting to 4th.

I would agree that for passes at the strip when the car and intercooler is nice and cool it would probably yield better times. However in a street setting ESPECIALLY during your 100 degree+ summers with tons of humidity as soon as you made a couple of pulls the IC would heatsoak and the timing would get pulled and you would be making less power.
