I just got done helping my buddy put his fully built motor together and it wont go into gear, and if you try to put it in gear it will grind. Tried to start with it in gear and the car tried to move. so i now know the the clutch won't disengage. made a temporary extension rod by cutting the end of a old valve and still nothing better. pulled the tranny out to see if the clutch disk was in backwords and it was fine... He's got a ACT2600 and ACT chromo-flywheel. Any ideas??? Thanks much appreciated:dsm: :thumb:

Does the slave cylinder move at all when you press the clutch pedal? Maybe you just need to bleed the system?

Common problem with the ACT. I got it with a NEW TRE spec tranny that had new fork/ball, master cylinder, new everything! We shimmed the slave rod to no avail. What finally did the trick was adding 2 nuts to the "C" bracket under the dash that adjusts the clutch pedal travel. First be sure you have adjusted the rod to the very last threads by loosening the lock nut and turning the master rod to the end of it's travel. If it is already there then we added 2 nuts with the same threading as the master rod has to allow for an extra 1/2" of master cylinder rod travel. Did the trick.
Just use some threaded rod the same as the master has for threading or even an old rod from a master to align the nuts and tack weld them on the side of the "C" bracket on the side facing the firewall. If this is not clear then PM me and I will clarify or call as this frustrated me to no end with everything being new. Mark
