What is the best way to vent the crankcase? I believe that I am having a problem with mine. I get lots of oil out of the oil cap, and so I bought a new cap, and still have the problem. I believe that I am putting pressure into the valve cover when I build boost and it's blowing oil out of the cap.

I don't think that I have proper ventiliation going on here. I have a large vacuum line running from my intake to the valve cover, and I have a filter on the other large nipple on the valve cover. Check out my picture gallery to see what I mean.

Am I missing something, or have something hooked up wrong?

Thanks-

Ok, then let me ask you this stupid question-

I am not aware that I even have a pcv valve. Car was never totally stock and I don't know what one on that car looks like or where it is. Anyone got a picture or description?

the pcv valve is on the top left corner of the valve cover, its connected to a line that runs to the intake mani. if you remove it be very careful not to crack the valvecover when reinstalling it like i did.

Looks to me like you have a pcv, its on the valve cover top left pointing to the IM

The PCV is on the left rear corner of the valve cover. I use a 9/16 wrench on them seems to work better than metric for some reason. It screws out of the valve cover just like a bolt would. I would recomend using only a MITSUBISHI OEM valve. The part store ones tend to leak under boost causing other problems. Make sure your oil cap seal under the cap is soft they get hard over time from the high heat of the oil and engine.

Thanks a lot guys. Got it.

I took it off and I can blow through it. I imagine that the job of a pcv valve would be to not let boost get in, and I can blow through it in that direction with no problem. I guess it's bad.

I also saw on someone's engine bay picture that they ran a hose from the other nipple on the valve cover, to a fuel filter, and then to the intake pipe (before the turbo of course) to create constant vacuum for the crankcase. This looked like a good idea, I might try that also.

it should allow ventilation at idle, but close under boost. you should be able to blow into it on the side that the hose attatches to, but air should not come out when you blow into the other side.

the valve cover is always ventilated from the tube on the side. the fuel filter is just there to keep oily vapors from clogging up your intake tract
