Well I'm driving down the highway and i hear something smacking my wheel well, so i slow down and coast off the highway, luckily it was by an exit, and we stop wait for the rain to slow down and that wasn't going to happen. SO i popped the hood and pulled out a flashlight and some tools, i always carry a set of tools because i know how trustworthy a DSM can be, but thats besides the point so I look at my belts and the alternator belt came off BIG dealll right......WRONG!, well i forgot to mention that my temp gauge read 230 before i pulled her over. Well after a couple of minutes of looking around the belts, I can see that my crank pulled decided to snapp of and go into my wheel well next to my shock and just start ripping SH!t up, yeah that sux, so Sunday Ill be doing some work to her, WUT ELSE IS NEW, well i guess it could be worse, i think the engine should be ok, I dont know thouugh 230 degrees Farenheit is kinda hot. But Ill keep every1 posted on wut the hell happened....

As long as you have the right mixture of antifreeze and a good radiator cap, 230 should be fine. With a proper cooling system boiling shouldn't occur until 235 degrees or more, depending on coolant mixture and system pressure.

WHat if im not using coolant.. Im using some other stuff, mixed with water, its called redline something, it was in a metal 1 gallon jug and said cools like icewater, but i think im gonna go back with regular antifreeze

It's called Redline Water Wetter. It's a great product. I run the Water Wetter/Water combo in my car instead of antifreeze. I've never had problems. My buddy also runs that combo in his RX7 and he noticed a huge difference in cooling efficiency. If anything, the Water Wetter helped you; I'd recommend leaving it in there.

Nahh its not water wetter i tried that stuff first, that stuff you just add to your coolant, this stuff i have CANNOT be mixed with coolant, you have to completely flush your radiator and engine, just to be able to pour this in, not a lot of ppl have heard of it but Advanced Auto Parts is the only place that carries it and its lik 17 bucks for 1 gallon, but it works.

Is the stuff you used called "40 Below"?
If it's not Water Wetter, then I doubt it's made by Redline..... I could be wrong though....

Yeah its my mistake its not made by redline, but no its not called 40 below, its just some stuff that says COols better than Ice water, LOL, i have no clue what its called.

I was hittiing 265F and nothing blew thank god!!!! I tried that watter wetter and it didn't do anything for me. I finally did flush, fill, 180 temp, new cap and she runs at 196-199F now. :thumb:

Dam how did you get it so low? Mine runs at 220 constant.

well come to find out the car is OK, the harmonic balancer/crank pulley decided to shear itself into 1 million pieces, so I'm guessing the rubber got old and worn out, but I got another one from Mitsu-$126.00 but its back on the car and it runs good so far.
