OK fellows here is a question for the big turbo users. I am currently running a 60 trim in a 18g compressor housing/ with a td06h in a 7cm exhaust housing. Not enough!! I want to go larger...any comments?

Interested in the Large frank,25g, or a GT sreies, or even a t3/t4..t4

Lookin for 500 to the wheels

Not worried about lag, have nitrous to take care of that.

Even though your post was a PITA to read I thought I would respond. If you are looking for 500 to the wheels pick up a 60-1 t3/t4 or a Red and either ditch the SAFC and get a standalone or do a safc vpc combo. You should swap out the 264i cam because it will be a restriction at that power level. The only problem is going to be your fuel pump. A 255 barely provides enough fuel for 500 on boost it just wont provide enough fuel if you plan to spray on top of that. I would suggest either a Supra fuel pump or invest in an external pump. You should also think about a FPR to control all of the fuel pressure. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to make 500 on just the turbo but if for some reason you cant you would certainly be able to do it with the nitrous.
 
Just curious, what was such a PITA. It says to list mods done to your car if you ask a turbo question, just following guidelines, no reason to be insulting.

Have you got any data (times or hp) since you got the turbo?

I would like hard data...maybe you can point me to some data if you haven't got it yet, I noticed in your profile that yours is still in the shop.

My car has run 11.9 on the current turbo, though it was not on pump gas. My old car (awd)did run 12.2 on pump gas with a green though.

I want something bigger than a red. What I have now is close to red. Is it not

Its somewhat close but not quite. What was your trap speed like? IMHO a 7cm housing is not big enough to make BIG power easily. A 60trim is smaller than a 60-1 also. An 8cm red or a Garrett 60-1 should be able to make 500 hp to the wheels with proper tuning. A Red with nitrous should be able to make 550+ to the wheels. I think that should be plenty of power. So get a Red tuned properly and that should satisfy your needs.
 
AHh so your the guy Mike was talking about...
Your going to have one killer setup there Source, but are your running an internal gate on that turbo or was that just part of the pic you showed us? Im going to be giving Mike a call for a turbo in the very near future, and have really been looking into internally gating w/e I get.

SOrry to jack your thread... Red=500+ hp properly tuned :D
 
Yeah I'm the guy. Mike actually built my turbo for his car but when I wanted to buy a G60-1 that was the only one he had. I wanted an internal gated one because I don't have my car set up for an extrenal. If I want to down the road I'll get a evo ported exhaust manifold with an extrenal gate and just take internal gate off my turbo.

The highest trap on that turbo was 123mph, but was 119 on the 11.9 run. The time slip is in my gallery if you want to take a peak and give me your opinion on performance. Remeber, I am fwd. I just don't see spending a wad on a red, when I can go bigger for a comparable price. I know bigger is not always better. I don't think I am outflowing my 60 trim yet, I think my numbers are limited by the exhuast side of the turbo

I have seen a 2g DSM run 132 trap in a fwd on a red. If you don’t want to shell out the money for a bolt on just go Garrett 60-1 with a .82 ar exhaust housing.

You still need to change a few things though before you should change your turbo. The cam and your fuel control being the two biggest. I ran a 117 with the wastegate fallin off on the return road. I think I could have done a 122 or so on pump gas if I would have installed my Haltech. I was just running a safc and a hacked MAS. My turbo makes plenty of power.

If you cant tune a small turbo you wont be able to tune a bigger turbo any better. If you can get 500hp out of a turbo what exactly do you think this bigger turbo is going to do? And what bigger turbo is this?

My car is tuned for what it has on it, I don't know what else you can do until parts get changed. I have a 272, intake manifold, fuel pump, regulator, and turbo as additions. All are on the way except for the manifold and turbo. I am not sure who has the best manifold and don't want to jump on the shiniest thing out there. I stated before that I believed that I was not outflowing my compressor wheel, but that the exhaust side couldn't keep up. If the red has the same turbine wheel and the only difference is the housing (7cm vs. 8cm), then that wouldn't make that much difference would it?

Why should I get a stand alone? I am able to tune with what I have. Maybe there are some things it will let me do that I can't now. I really don't know. I don't have the knowledge to tune with a stand alone.

I'm sure your turbo makes plenty of power. I never doubted that. Do you have any dyno numbers or race gas times. I know Blaha ran mid 10's on his Red, I see him at Rockingham frequently and he has helped with some tuning issues before.

Sup Man I'm from Charlotte too. Your 60trim is fine you don't need to swap it out. If you want more power the best thing for you to do is.GET RID OF THE S_AFC. Go with a VPC and S_AFC combo or PMS or Standalone. MY setup is close to your , it'll be nice to see what ours cars can do at the ROCK. Me personal just brought the PMS for my 2g with the data software to put it into standalone mode.And going to sell my S-afc. Only other thing I say do is change your compressor housing. Get a T04E compressor housing and ditch the 18g Compressor housing your get ALOT more flow.

I think 7-10mph more is a pretty big difference.

You need to go to some MAP based system in order to make the type of power that you are looking for. Whether you do that with a VPC or a standalone is your choice. I think there may be a little more left in your setup with some more supporting mods and some tuning.

I suggested Red because you seem to be into bolt on turbos. Personally I think a Garrett equivalent would be cheaper and probably make more power.
 
Blaha is the man.... anyways, I'd check out one of the BB GT turbos forsure. That would be my first choice. BTW.. were either of you 2 NC guys around last year for the import race in August? I was there running my black 90 GSX with the small 16g on it at the time.. Lots of fun hanging with blaha, andy beachly, tuan diep, phillip long etc.... lots of smart and crafty guys in your area.

Umm I know this car and it's fast. But look at his profile and his pics of his car. He has the parts just need something better than a S-AFC.
