For the past 700 miles or so, I have been running about 20psi and getting full boost by about 38-3900rpm. Over the weekend i turned up the boost to 22psi(feels much stronger from only 2psi increase). And the other day I was messing around under hood, and descided to adjust the wastegate actuator rod(shorten it). This increases the pressure it takes to open the flapper door. I took I for a little spin. And, to my disbelief, Im now reaching 22psi by about 3600rpm! I cant believe it! This was in 4th gear, starting from about 2800rpm. Oh, and ask LarryD what the car looked like, coming in the parking lot full of DSMers after a run.
:thumb: Ill say it again, this is one BAD AZZ turbo!!!

Just order one from the source. Talk to Ben or Kevin and tell them Dave referred ya:thumb: They will take care of you big time. Hook you up with the right setup. And thier support is the best I have ever dealt with. I was the 3rd person outside of the SouthWest with this turbo. You be like the 3rd... Thousanth!!!:D

It's funny you metioned that becasue I just got done completeing instructions for AGP that is going to go out with all internally gated L2R's that shows exactly that. How to adjust the wastegate actuator.

what instructions, John? You just shorten it. I had it pretty tight, but I made it even tighter. Did you mention to people that this will increase the lowest boost possible? And induce creep?

Just imagine what a well setup external and a perfect a/f ratio would be like OMG :dsm:

Hey RDRKT, whats up. Piss anyone off lately:thumb: J/K. I dont know if an External would benefit anymore. I think I have one of the best performing internals on the planet. Honestly, Im really not expecting quicker spool from this turbo. Its performing awesomely, and I have no complaints.

I was talking to a guy today who auto-x's and he was talking about running anti-lag on an L2R w/ 9.0:1. Damn, could you imagine that! Big16g spool with a 54lb/min compressor. Flat torque curve anyone?

Kevin

Z1500, in my dreams (which if i can get my job as a pesky telemarketer have a decent chance of happening) i have a 6 bolt engine with 9:1 pistons and an L2R

of course i would have an AEM EMS to make it run perfect

I cant really say how tight to make it. I just looked at how many threads were exposed, adn cut that # in half. Before, I could pull the acvtuator arm out by hand(it was hard, but I could pull it out manually.) Now, I cant pull it out by hand, no matter how hard I try.

Only adjustable actuators will do it. The 14B/16G do not have adjustable acuators. The Super turbos that Hahn sells, are semi adjustably, but not as much as the Garrett actuators that come with the AGPs.

What if you make a threaded adjustable rod and weld it to the existing stock one or add it in the middle, any ideas, thanks. will it help or is it not worth it.

yea, the dodge turbo guys do this. He cuts the rod, then threads it on both ends. then put on a long nut from a turnbuckle or something, then it is adjustable. Would this help or be more of a PITA than it is worth?

ok.. since I have a 0.7 bar spring in my wastegate its actually opening right around 10lbs but still building boost all the way to 20lbs. I cant wait to see how much better the spool is once I finally get the wastegate situated.

That and your tuning Larry. Your car is still dumping fuel. Dont give up until you at least have that figrued out. Im sure that if we put our heads together at the Dyno day, we will be able to figure it out.

Oh, and BTW: I was getting 22lbs at 3600 with the cat on. I just replaced the cat with a test pipe. We will see if this took some more time off that spool.
