well, i'm about to order a boost guage...
i'm ordering the a-pillar pods from lo-tek so it looks nice and factory, but for guages i'm obviously getting the boost guage, but i'm curious as to what would be most practical for the 2nd pod? i've seen a lot of people with a/f and egt and other ones like that, but then again some of those are full out drag cars and what not, i'm not planning on that. just doing some free mods, exhaust, intake, and boost...keeping in mind this is a daily driven car.
so back to my question, what guage do you think would be best in that extra spot?
and also, does anyone have any preferences in brands? price wise? one worth the extra dough?
i've seen the autometer phantoms, and i like those a lot but they're about 60 for the boost and go up for other guages. i've also heard of VDO and others,

...thanks again for the input!

I'll second what supereclipse said

Autometer is proven to work, inexpensive, and they have tons of choices for gauge faces. Deffinately get the EGT b/c all the a/f does is tell you a general voltage, it's more of a light show than anything

I agree with what they said. :thumb:

thanks a lot guys :)
looks like autometer is getting my money
def the boost guage, i'll be going with the phantom series or ultra lite ..still deciding on that part, and looks to be a unanymous vote for EGT
thanks for the responses

since htis is a gauge thread, could anyone tell me the difference between electronic and mechanical gauges besides where they hook up and price? Like which is better to get and why?

my friend and I are probably going either greddy or apexi on his but we odn't know weather to go electronic or mech?

Thanx
Karim

all depends exactly what guage your talking about.. for example

Greddy Electrical Boost gauge..
vacuum hose from T off FPR to a little black box that runs an electrical wire from there inside the car to the back of the gauge.

Greddy Mechanical Boost Gauge
vacuum hose from T off FPR straight to back of gauge.

LOL larry we talked about yorus the other night on aim, it's me khuss42384

so anyone have a take on which boost and egt gauge is better and why?

I've got the Autometer Phantom on the way. However, if you are gonna replace your stock dash (amber is what I got in mine), and go with blue, definitly go with the Cobalt Autometer.. Those look really slick...

yeah i think alot of determing which boost and EGT gauge is about color..I actually wanted blue but I didnt want Apexi gauges so I went with Greddy to complete my Greddy theme and redid all the interior lights as green.

The Defi gauges a friend of mine has are REALLY nice. They have a little brain box that you run all the senders into.. then from there to the gauges. It has 40 sec playback on all the gauges at the same time.. & all the normal peak hold functions. The bad part is the initial cost w/ the brainbox is quite expensive.. But they are really nice.. I think he paid like $600 on sale for 3 gauges & the box. Also I highly recomend the peak hold feature of the electronic gauges... Once you get a few gadgets it's really hard to look at everything at the same time & still drive the car.
