MAF Output Voltage: 0-5V?

I know many stock MAFs on other vehicle types have 0-5V outputs. Is this true for 1G and 2G MAFs as well?

I ask because I found a water injection setup that uses a 0-5V MAF input to control water injection - providing a fixed water/air ratio. If the stock MAF is 0-5V, we can use this on our cars.
 
Our MAF's use a Hz output not a voltage output. I think some of the ford MAF's use a voltage output. I know the ECU has a pulse accumulator to count the MAF pulses to calculate airflow along with BARO and IAT.

You have to compensate for WI by leaning fuel and adding timing to get the most out of it. If you don't you may lose power due to cylinder cooling. I would like to keep the "stock" ecu, but I want to go WI eventually also. I am thinking AEM EMS may be the only solution. I am in the middle of reading through the dsm-ecu archives. From what I read you could probably trigger WI at a certain tps/maf hz by triggering the boost gauge and tapping into it.

I need an eprom ecu to test damnit :cry:

Hmmm, if you have a big turbo that spools > 4k rpm then you could make a simple rpm based switch.
 
Hell with a EPROM ECU you can use PWM to control your WI on a RPM basis. I'm going to try that out myself and use the EGR Solinoid. I wan't 50% DS of the water at like around 4,500 RPM which should be about where I'm seeing 20 PSI and 100% DS at 7,500 RPM. Should be a linier DS curve. Their is so much that can be controller with a EPROM ECU. I'm also going to control a low RPM Nitrous activation usieng the FPS as the trigger for the nitrous. Have it come on at 3K RPM at >95% Throttle and vehicle moving to ensure it doesn't activate during a studder launch.

Is it running without an AFC?

I am close to buying an eprom ecu, but I have not found a good article which gives the limitations. Since I am a computer guy, I think I could get into burning eproms as a new hobby :D

Personally I think the stock ecu should be able to account for any turbo combination you add if the eprom is setup correctly. I am still a dsm noob right now though.

Yeah - I knew that, I was just wondering if the ECU interpreted a voltage signal from the MAF to "Hz" or something along those lines. Guess not, though.

I think I may look at a GM MAF conversion, then I can use the WI controller inline between the MAF and the MAF Translator.

I did order a FP3065 but due to other financial situations I had to cancel it. But now money is coming back into the picture I've already got me a HX-35, H1E (HX-40 basicly), Big 16G, and 2 TO4E turbo's that I'm not to sure what the compressor wheels are yet. So I have a wide variety of turbo's that I'm going to try out in the future. I'm going to break-in the new motor with the Big 16G and after 2K miles I'm going to be bolting on that HX-35 with a bullseye TH housing. That should be about comperable to the output of the FP3065 for half of the cost.

Their is no reason you can't run a big turbo with a EPROM ECU. With extended timing tables I can control ingition advance all the way up to the turbo's max airflow which is a very good thing. As said before I'm also going to run a alcohol/water injection and also install a 75HP nitrous setup all controlled by the EPROM ECU. The NOS is for turbo SPOOL up at launch and then the alcohol injection will take over and with no lift to shift I'll not have to worry about respooling the turbo. Once I get a dogmission the H1E is going on and I'm expecting output to be around 600ish WHP. I'm going to have to find a AWD dyno around here after I get a good tune to see what it's power output is for real. BTW the inovative WBO2 DIY is very cheap and a very good tool.

Back on topic. Psychlow you would be better off getting a EPROM ECU while you still can and start learning how to program it. Their is so much that can be done. Then you can use it to activate your W/I along with whatever else you want.

My only problem is that I'm not really that good at programming, especially when hex editing is involved - plus, I don't know ASM (even considering no one knows if we have an accurate DeASM). I don't know anyone who is that good at it that would offer it for a reasonable price, either. :(

I think it'd almost be worth the cost of a standalone at that point.
