I just got my 16g Evo from Slowboy . I had them port it for an extra 50.00 . I just take it out of the box and check for shaft play . It has around mm of shaft play . I understand that it will ride on oil but it seems pretty loose to me . I actually makes little clunking noises when I wiggle the end shaft . Does anyone know how much is acceptable ?
Thanks in advance :talon:

Don't install it and contact SB right away.

personally, on a brand new turbo, I wouldnt accept any shaft play. I got my Evo from slowboy and it didnt have any at all. I would definately contact them immediately.

It has a little more than a mm of shaft play . Hopefully Slowboy will reply to this post . I will try to contact them to . Once again though I know some shaft play is going to be there but what is acceptable ? It does not come into contact with the turbo housing but man is it close .

Here is what I learned from Slowboy racing . This should end all fears and establish good and bad shaft play, at least for me !!!

Thank you for the quick response . I did not know this about the bearings not being set yet !!! Thank you for the valuable info I will post this on the forum and keep record of it just in case somthing does happen . Thank you once again for the reassurance.

I know the guys at Slowboy pretty good, im there like twice a week, and yes, they do know what they are talking about. I know you arent bashing them or anything. But just for some re-assurance, they are very good guys and will take care of any problem you have with anything you buy from them :thumb:

I had the same concern with my new EVO III 16g from SLOWBOY, but I had a feeling it had something to do with NOT having seen oil yet. I mean, the play is absolutely minimal. But thanks for clearing that up.
