I found a screaming deal on a slightly used 3" N1 ($300), but I probably won't be upgrading my stock turbo for a while. I don't want to suffer from any unnecessary torque loss for the time being. I have heard numorous times that with a stock 2nd gen turbo a 2.5" exhaust should be used. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Peace out my homeskillets....:thumb:

Just get it. Regardless if you are not changing the turbo now. You will want to build a base of mods for when you do. A 3inch will not slow you down at all.escepcially if it's replaceing the stock exhaust.

A deal like that shouldn't be passed over. I have the N1 on my GSX and I love it. Great quality, sound and no power loss. You won't be sorry.

wen the time comes (Basically wen i have money) im going for a o2 eliminator 3" downpipe to 3" high flow cat to 3" cat-back.

should be a nice setup i hope.. anyone have any opinions on that?

so you guys are saying that a 3 inch FULL exhaust is a good mod even if you have the stock turbo??

Well, i am planning on getting a bigger and better turbo in the future but what about for those who dont? Wouldnt it be better for them to get a 2.5" instead of 3" exhaust because of the torque loss?
And i'm talking about the whole exhaust system.

Unless you're planning on running 11s or better, a 2.5" is good enough. A 3" certainly won't hurt, but won't make your car significantly faster. And it's louder and usually can't be routed over the rear axle like a 2.5" can.

The torque loss was the main reason I went with 2.5", but some doubt that the torque loss of a 3" is noticeable, or even exists on a turbo car. I don't really know, but I like mine.

I know i'm not gonna keep my piece of sh!t T-25 forever. However, it will be like 6-9 months before I can afford one. So I know that when I do upgrade, I will be happy I went for the 3". Besides, who can say there's an exhaust system that looks better than the N1 on a 2nd gen??

"Once you go turbo, you never go back"

 Don't the N1s come with 2.5" piping? I thought only HKS and Thermal made exhaust with 3" piping. I was planning to get HKS Carbon-Ti exhaust because it has a titanium tip and has the 3" piping, anyone know if they are any good?

Just to set your mind at ease ... whatever low end torque loss you may get from upgrading your exhaust can be offset at least a little bit by the purchase and installation of either a K&N FIPK or an Injen conical intake. Your top end will also improve, so either way I'm sure you'll like it.
