RS*R Downpipe = 50 HP?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

The description says "Test results have shown that these downpipes in conjuction with the GT2 exhaust systems showed increased engine power by as much as 50hp." So they're saying that with the downpipe PLUS a catback, they've seen gains of 50 hp. But to answer your question: No, the downpipe alone is not going to give you 50 horsies.

Maybe if you're trying to push 24 psi through the stock exhaust on race gas, and then immediately switch over to that exhaust.... it might make that much of a difference in that specific situation.

It _could_ be as much as 50 horsepower, but that's probably the biggest gain they've ever seen under specific circumstances.

 @ the first paragraph.
But I agree, I would truely say that 8hp-15hp is reasonable. But 50.. I'd beg them for some dyno results from that run.

like all of the above people said, 50 hp could be gained, only if the catalytic converter was smashed flat. but, the largest power increase I ever felt was from a downpipe. Upping the boost and putting on the catback and all that crap (Haven't done a turbo) I could barely feel, and if someone was in the passenger seat it went away. meh...it might have been the added boost response that I was feeling, or maybe my cat was fubar, but downpipe's are usually a nice upgrade.

try these guys for a good quality, inexpensive downpipe:

if you have a custom gt35r pushing 35psi on a 2.4l block with custom cams and headwork all on stock downpipe, then you switch to the rs*r downpipe, you might pick up 50hp.

Typically expect 5-10hp.

you'll pick up alot more then 50hp on that setup LOL..

try checking out www.kteller.com im not sure if they have the DP's listed on the site but they make them as well as nice exhausts

The downpipe in the picture is obviously for a twin turbo car. That statement by RS*R is very broad and includes all models, and obviously a certain TT car. I do not know which one but a Supra,R34 or RX7 Etc. would gain 50 crank horsepower with downpipe and cat-back no problem. Don't take it personal guys, but you are bashing RS*R for a claim they can back up. That site should not have that pic & write-up with the DSM downpipe thats all:) .
