Hello all,

I was hoping IPT or someone could answer a quick question. I did search google and this forum with only one definitive result and it wasn't necessarily reassuring to me.

Are 1g (91 specifically) AWD and FWD torque converters different?

There is a local deal on a FWD 91 IPT TC but I own an AWD and am not sure if that will work. The post I found said they are the same but I would prefer an expert to chime in here before I drop the cash.

Thank you!
Robert

Did a quick google search with the same question and look who beat me to it! Pavo!:hellyeah:

The torque converters are the same for a 6 bolt FWD and AWD.

Looking at ASA it seems that at some point Mitsubishi changed the pitch of the mounting bolts for the flex plate to converter from 1.5 to 1.25 so you might find cars out there that have had the TC replaced with new factory parts and they would have different thread pitches.
