How to identify ECU pin numbers

People seem to get confused as to which pins are which.

You count the pins on a connector looking at the back of the connector where the wires come out just like you do looking into the pins on the ECU.

This is what the VFAQ ECU pinouts and service manuals are trying to show you.

The mating connector from the harness is then numbered looking at the back of the connector where the wires come out. Ignore the missing wires, I've harvested a few from this connector.

The 2G connectors work the same way but location of pin 1 and general numbering is different.

Again the mating connector from the harness is then numbered looking at the back of the connector where the wires come out.
