hey
ive been looking around at my options for a visual update on my car. I seriously dont like the gray lip around the entire car and am 100% sure thats gone sum how. Ive been bouncing back and forth between a 97-99 conversion, a body kit, or just getting that gray painted to match the car. I really love the way my fog lights go with the headlights, looks mean when its coming at you, but i dont like my bumpers or skirts. Then theres the conversion, i would have to buy headlights....thats like 200$ and thats not very appealing, but if i could find red bumpers and skirts to match then that might work out so i dont have to pay for a paint job, but i cant seem 2. Then theres the body kit option, looks the best option for looks prolly, but i would have to get that painted...ack...and im not so sure about the kits that say for 95-99(i know better) and i cant find anything thats just for 95-96.

i guess im just sorta ranting, but if you have a opinion or know of a place that has a body kit for the early 2g with pics please tell

i have a 95.. check it out..

do the conversion if anything.. loosk cleaner.. i use to have a full out body kit.. sure glad i got rid of it..

I have to agree with doing the 97+ conversion. I just ordered my parts to do it this weekend, should be here soon. Yeah it may be pretty common, but there is a reason behind it. It just looks good. If you're worried about paying for painting it and stuff, wait until you find the bumpers and sides in the color that your car is. That's what I did.

EDIT: ^^^ and damn that car is sexy

i think im leaning towards the conversion now, thanks for the input.
that lip is cool, only reason its out of the question is the $250 price tag

it's at modacar.com

That seems like your best options since you like your fogs, personally I like stock 97-99 Fogs best tho/

I like 96-95 Reverse lights better- I feel they match the body curve lines a lot better. I almost did a 97-99 front just so it was more open for a FMIC but, I decided to go full Rdora and give it a more original look, thats clean but different then stock.

I had a hard time paying a ton of $ for a stock body, alltho' it looks good if I had a 97-99 I'd keep it stock but a part of me still wantes to stand out from the crowd

do anyone think that sumone would trade there 97-99 stuff for my 95-96 stuff if i threw in sum cash on top of it, and gimme a good deal? or do people generaly stay away from the 95-96 stuff

I did the 97 conversion and absolutely love it. Got some good deals on the parts. Here is what you will neeed.

97-99 Headlights
97-99 Fog Lights
97-99 Fog Light Bezels
97-99 Sideskirts
97-99 Door caps (95-96 will not work)
97-99 Rear
97-99 Reverse Lights
97-99 Turbo Spoiler
Seems to me that the biggest problem you have is the cost. That was an issue for me too. I accumulated the parts over a year and that saved me some money. The conversion itself is pretty easy but do your homework before you start.
Check m&s recycling for the parts you need. If your not in a major hurry they can hook you up with some good deals. It cost me 1600 for a full paint and new front windshield. I did all the body work myself and worked on it every weekend for thee months. I am very happy with the results. I remember when I bought my 95 GSX the dealer had a 97 GST and wanted me to get that but I told him the 95 looked better and I didn't like the giant hotwheels turbo wing. Well times have changed and I can't believe I said that. Good luck and shoot me an email if you have any questions. I like to help. Check for the 95-97 conversion thread as there is allot of info there on the conversion.

As far as trading the 95 stuff for 97-99. Don't even bother trying. I was only able to get rid of my sideskirts and doorcaps. I still have everything else.

I wanted to know if you could do the same thing for talons. I have a 95 talon but i like the 97-99 headlights. What would be needed to do just the headlight conversion. Also when people say door caps what are they talking about?

2gTalonESI - I had the same car you got in 95. Sold it for the 95 GSX. Way happier. Anyway the headlights can be changed. The Talon has had the same headlights since 95. Which it shares with the 95-96 Eclipse. These are wider than the 97-99 Eclipse headlights. So when you change them over everything should be fine but there will be a gap. it will be were the inside of the headlights meet up to the center section of the front end. I don't know how big the gap will be so do some more checking.

Door Caps. They are on the 95-96 talon only. 97 and up have the swooping side molding on each door. These are just what they are called. They are a plastic cap on the bottom of the doors, about 3 1/2 inches wide , that blend/match the door to the sideskirts.

See attached pic. Hope it helps.

im gonna try and find sum aftermarket headlights i like(that are cheap), used 97-99 tail lights, keep my wing(for now, want a CF one down the road) and start looking for good deals on red body pieces(skirts, caps, rear, front) and then after all that or sumwhere in the middle, a CF hood and front lip. In the meen time, sell my old stuff on ebay for fairly cheap and thats my plan. Now i just need the money and im set:laugh:

Are you trying to build a sleeper or a car that looks as mean as its bite? If you're going for a sleeper, then do the conversion. If you're seeking to set yourself apart from the vast majority of stock eclipses out there with some visuals or are building a show car that can run, then start looking for a quality kit that suits your personal style. Personally, I love checking out show cars that really express their owners unique style and can see a quality ride that obviously had a ton of love and money poured into it, not some hatchet job done on the cheap. Of course, I also think a car that looks fast should be fast.

Go with what makes you happy and what you truly desire, that way you won't be disappointed in the end.
