Hey guys, I'm sure you've all seen or heard of the GT3000 (something or other) supra style widebody kit from Importfan (GTP) right? I was thinking, I've always wanted an AB Flug style or similar body kit for the 2nd gen DSMs. Not necessarily a new kit, but I'm sure Importfan could make some door panels to extend the rear 1/4 panel over the doors to give it a sharper more sporty look. What do you guys think? I'm sure if enough people were interested we could convince them to make at least an extra door panel if not a whole new kit. I'm just curious to see what you guys think. I for one, would be happy with just a door panel like i mentioned, since I don't like how the current kit just kind of stops at the doors. I'll still be getting one, but I'm going to be adding that as custom work i guess.

i did want that kit but i have yet to see it finished on a car and the doors need somethign more i think it jsut looks like somoene forgot to put part of the kit on the car IMO

Why do you need such a large sideduct? For those so hard working rear brakes?

It's a cute execution, but it's not something to be replicated.

I'd rather see something like the BN Sports widebody kits done on a DSM than the Conclusion kit. Just leave the overstyled stuff for the companies that made it.

that one looks a whole lot better:dsm:

Well, like I was saying. I really love the GTP Supra wide body kit for the DSMs. just that I would prefer to have the rear 1/4 panels/wide body fenders extend over the door a little, so i doesn't look like I'm missing something in the middle. I don't mind how the front fenders stick out, reminds me of a viper.

ya the widebody for the 2g is sick on importfan.com, but i think that if i got it i would modify the rear bumper so i didnt have to put the supra lights in and i could keep our sexy tails :thumb:.

my .02

I agree with you there, I think our taillights look much better than the supra ones. I know for sure I'm getting the kit, but I'm also looking for blackout taillight covers so I can at least cover up the tallights.

i hope urnot the kid that bought that kit in texas... Because you have to do alot of metal work to make and tailight fit. I was gonna get one then i decided to do a custom wide body wit different heads adn tails for 2500 plus shippign it should have headlights in too.

i know for a fact that im buying that kit but im thinking about not buying the front bumper, i wanna use the stock front bumper and make an RM style lip for it. then i will use the stock tails as well.

that kit is WAY too agressive IMO... i want to do a custom widebody much like someone here on the board did.. he took the karmiara (sp??) wide body and a blitz kit and molded it into a wide body and it is comepletey custom and unique, i really like it, i wouldnt use a blitz front though ;) id LOVE to hav something like that.. the front and rear of the kar. kit arent the best looking, id love to "revise" that kit :thumb:

Well, how much do custom widebodies usually cost? For example, if I came up with my own design and went to a custom body shop? I remember seeing a wide body red prelude on some magazine cover a while back that was custom done and looked awesome, and was thinking of doing somethign like it.

God.... with paint and everything.. My guess is that you are looking at probably 6-7KOMG

They can sell them cheaper (around 2K) because they have already created the molds for them and are now pulling pieces out of the molds... to create a custom one for your car, someone has to fabricate the whole thing by basically screwing a wood frame to your car and fiberglassing the shape.. then take it off your car and make fiberglass molds for it.. then they have to put fiberglass into the molds and pull them and then apply them to your car, bondo, sand your car...Then you have to prime and paint it all..

Lots of work, lots of labor, lots of $$$$

A custom fiberglass trunk sub enclosure with paint can cost $1000 with paint... multiply that to the size of your car.

Whoa!!!! It's like they answered my prayers or something! LOOK!

That's EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING! OMG :thumb: Mad props to Importfan!

There is no way in hell you are going to buy that legit Abflug kit for less than $10k unless you buy direct from Japan. That JDM shop builds them near where I work here in Japan, and a coworker of mine recentaly installed about half the kit components and repainted to the same color. Shipping to US alone is $1000. Considering that kit contains well over 15 components, there is no way you should go with anything but a legitimate kit.

Oh, and fat chance it gets made or fits an eclipse.

Well actually, Importfan sells the ABFlug kit, and have actually improved upon it. Import fan uses high quality materials (authentic blue class fiberclass) and always makes kits that fit superbly, so I would not expect any less from their ABFlug style kit. I'm not so brainwashed as to order something just because it's "the real thing", but to each his own I guess. To me, that's just kind of like the whole JDM craze that the honda world is going through. In my eyes, if it fits just as good, is just as strong, and looks the same, it makes no difference to me if I can save well over 5k. Now, as I was saying, ImportFan makes a carbon kevlar version of the kit, which in my opinion is an improvement.

Also, they seem to have made a similar looking kit, although much watered down as you can see in the picture above. As you can see in my other posts, all I really wanted was a door panel, which is in the new kit. The actual ABFlug kit is WAY too aggressive, as tunerkid said, to be replicated on the rounded 2G dsm body.

Also, I think the actual kit their showing looks like ass with that front bumper. Like I said, It would look good using stock front and rear bumpers to me.

That kit is simply the sickest kit I've ever seen on any car, and I think it's perfectly suited for a supra.

Overdone? So I suppose the latest lambos and ferraris are not, simply because they cost $250k? I give far more props to that S900 than an overpriced stock pasta-rocket any day. Keep in mind that car that won the Tokyo Auto Salon 2001 is pushing 890 hp to the wheels and is every bit as fast as it looks.
