I'm currently in the process of buying some blitz hi-rise side skirts. However, I was wondering about the installation, how do they go about getting them to blend in with the body when they rise up on the rear fender? About how much is installation? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :dsm:

if you want them blended to the body, you'd probably wanna mold them in. Otherwise, the highrise skirts leave a nasty interference in the quarters & fenders. I just think it does. I like the highrises molded. If u don't wanna deal with the hassles molded skirts have the tendency to yield, just go with the low ones.

i have the same (high rise) skirts that i picked up yesterday. what hassles do you mean when you say "If u don't wanna deal with the hassles molded skirts have the tendency to yield, just go with the low ones." Im debating wether to mold them in or just screw them in. Any ideas

everyone I talk to says that molded kit components will spiderweb or crack over time. You have to keep redoing it unless you can live with the lines showing back up. I am very confident in my bodyshop and they said that cars that see the streets will end up showing spiderwebs or cracking back to show the lines over time. I have heard the same thing from a lot of people that have molded skirts. My car is in the shop now having custom paint done and all and I am 1 of the few people that chose not to mold my skirts in. It looks better, but I hate having to buy things I already have done. anyway- some people have better luck with it. It depends on your roads probably and how much u drive the car. I'm gonna shut up now. :D

im gonna take your advise and not mold them in. im not made of money and i got a good deal on these skirts. besides these and rims, i cant buy alot more, LOL. i was worried about being able to see screws in the skirts but i found out how to get around that now. thx!

it really depends on the body shop and how the do it. my side skirts have taken a major beating along with my rear bumper, parking lots with curb lips suck. I have no webs or cracks as of yet. bondo doesnt cut it, u neet to lay chop mat on them and smooth it all down. and reinforce the hell out of them just for good measure. if u can get aroudn the skrews showing sweet, do it that way, then u can take them off if u ever decide to go with lambo style doors. I am stuck cutting mine

I have the high blitz skirts and they have been on for almost a year. The roads here arnt too bad but there are some spots and you have to watch it if there molded. Mine are not crackin yet but you never know. The body shop I took my car too, said that if the molding is done right they wont crack out. The worst parts to mold are the front or back bumpers, because they get the most body flex. Its up to you but I think the molded look is alot cleaner.

does anyone have any pics of how the skirts look on a car when they're not molded on? I'm planning on just having them put on like that cause i dont have the money to paint the whole rear fenders and such. Thanks for all the help.:dsm:

My high blitz side skirts are molded on to my car and it's been a little over a year. So far so good. No cracks, etc etc.. I have gone through many bumps and pot holes. You just gotta be very very careful, and go over bumps with an angle. I love the looks of it molded on (more clean look imo), but the only negative side is that I cant change to another style side skirts in the near future if I wanted to. Well I can, but its just more of a hassle. So i'm pretty much stuck with these, but i'm happy with it. pics here http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/showgallery.php?ppuser=1570&cat=500 :)

Thanks for the pic and i have got to give compliments on what you have done to the car, it looks sweet :thumb: . However, I was looking for someone to post a pic with the blitz hi-rise without being molded on. Thanks :dsm:

mine aren't realy molded but I just didn't stick them on either. I blended the sideskirt in a little just to get rid of that look. i just molded the lip of the skirt into the car look in my gallary you might be able to see it.( its just primed)

I molded my first set partway and they cracked eventually. I kinda cheated when I redid the first set. I put them on with rivets and filled the seam with seam seal. then take your finger and smooth it out. It looks great and is flexable. The only pain is inside the door jams.
