Polishing your own Lip?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Wash with thinned Simple Green to get all the brake dust out, drag out the polish (used to be Simichrome, but this week's favorite seems to be Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish) and an old T-shirt, and find a radio station that lets your brain crank out alpha waves. Then just rub. and rub. and rub. You might be able to get one done in an hour. Your fingers will hurt like hell for two weeks.
Don't try to power-buff them unless you've done a fair bit of it before.
Once polished, you're going to have to keep a wax or other layer on it, or they'll dull again as they oxidize.

I use some aircraft paint remover to get the clear out, sand to get the surface smooth exempt of scratches. After that put wheel clear or polish with wheel polish then clear or just leave it like that.
