I have a 4-way accessory box that I bought from Auto Zone that allows me to plug in 4 accessories into a single control box. From that box, there is one ribbon-wire that runs to a paper-thin touch-button control pad, which can be mounted anywhere. I have my driving lights and a few other electronics hooked up to this. It works really nice, and takes some of the work out of wiring because you only have to run the wiring for your box one time, and then "plug-and-play" your accessories into the box.

I would suggest going this route. The box is only about $25 and it looks really nice when finished. The flat touch-button pad really makes a techy impression! :p

Good Luck! :thumb:

i put mine in the center console in front of the cup holder so they are concealed

was that hard to do. and are you talking about the armrest thing?

If you have an RS (maybe on a GS?) you dont have power mirrors or fog light swiches, there is a whole peice with blank buttons, I believe 2 about the same size, then a large one where a power mirror control would have gone. Mine are all blank so, they seem like the perfect spot for buttons and swiches. (I will get a pic once I have something in there)

The peice is directly to the left of the steering wheel. you canb check my gallery for an ok shot of my interior (I am changing the red to black/carbon fiber) I have the blank buttons painted red right now.

Sorry my steering wheel is turned so you can only see about half of it but if you have no Mitsu factory option buttons there, I think its a perfect spot. Like I said, I wont take an upclose pic of it until I have some switches/buttons on there

I mounted my box under the dash on the bottom of the steering wheel cover, where the driver's side foot vents are... You know what I mean. It is in a nice place so I can run my ribbon-wire up to my number pad on the dash near the steering wheel, and at the same time my box is right there where the wires go through my firewall (at the steering wheel boot).

I did this on my 1g, not sure how to go about it for a 2g...

On my car i took out that change cup in front of the shifter, cut out the bottom and mounted a switch inside. That way you can't see it from the outside, and when you need to turn it on you just press the cover release.

I thought of doing the same thing, it makes a really clean-looking design, and plus it's fun to flip up that lid! :p

OMG you have no idea LOL, i have the controls for my gauge faces in there. And everyone thinks it's some hi-tech contraption because theres 2 buttons and dimmer for the light haha

got any special instructions on doing that or have pictures of it?

sounds cool though:thumb:

on my install all you do is take the console out drill two holes and run the wires. just make sure you still have the room to slide the cup holder back into place

Not sure about 2g's but 1g's have a cup/change holder thing in front of the shifter. You just take the whole top panel off the center console. The cup is held on by a couple tabs. I had a small hand saw that i used to cut out the bottom. Then just drill a hole on each side and use some screws to mount the switch in it. So whenever you need to turn it on, press the release button for the cup lid and watch everyone get the "holy $, what the hell does that thing do" look on there face haha. My digi cam is kinda crappy but i'll see what i can do.

WOW, this is WAY old... I was just pondering this same question and wondered what people would think about having the switches mounted directly behind the armrest, close to the hump in the floor that seperates the drivers side from the pass. side?? I'm thinking that i'm going to end up having more then a couple switches (although at this time i can only think of a couple that I might actually use.

Give me your thoughts on that location.
