What color should I paint the engine bay?
Im pulling the stock 7bolt to swap in a 6bolt that I am building. I want to paint the bay and possibly shave it to clean it up a bit. I was wondering what color you guys think I should go with.
Here are 2 pics of the car, but the exterior paint job might change to black or solver.

I wouldn't think so only cause it's nice to have colors that compliment each other by contrasting one another. I learned this through photography since I'm a photographer. It makes one heck of a difference. Black on black wouldn't look bad, but it definitely wouldn't be anything exciting either lol. My VC right now is powder coated black. Don't get me wrong, I love it but my car isn't black lol. Plus I'm sending it in to get redone another color anyway

Flat or satin black. With black your not limited to what color scheme you go with and you don't have to repaint the bay whenever you paint the car. Everything matches with black. And by using flat, touching up areas is incredibly easy.
I wanted to go with blue/purple, but that would have looked horrible in a red engine bay. So, I went with satin black.

Definitely flat black. Looks clean and like stated above, is easy to touch up. I say grab a couple rattle cans of flat black and go for it.

I did satin black on my previous eclipse last summer. I wanted to do satin black on my current spyder, but also thought about painting the bay to match the paint job I did to my valve cover, which is a blue-silver faded into satin black with the 'rain-effect' look. I might just do that to the bay and have most everything else black. A couple other little things would get the matching paint look though. Whatever you decide, I recommend using heat resistant paint, just to be on the safe side. I also clear coated everything last summer and still retained the non-glossy finish.
