hey i'm trying to install an ipod control direct connection sort of thing and i need to power it. i can power it by plugging into the cigarette lighter or by hardwiring it, which i would prefer to do. the wiring that came with it are ignition, battery, and ground. can anybody tell me which wires to splice into or tell me where i might be able to find it? any help is really appreciated

If you plan in doing this yourself, you should equip yourself with a DMM meter to verify voltage.

This post has the information (although he was wiring up an alarm): http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-electrical-wiring/336052-aftermarket-alarm-remote-start-turbo-timer-install-wiring-diagram.html

Specifically you are looking at the ignition wires in this post:
Wire: Ignition 1
Color: Black/White
Polarity: +
Location: Ignition Switch Harness
Notes: This is one of the wires a lot of diagrams have wrong.

Wire: Ignition 2
Color: Blue/Black
Polarity: +
Location: Ignition Switch Harness
Notes: This is one of the wires a lot of diagrams have wrong.

For the battery lead, you can run it (with in-line fuse) straight to the battery or tap another constant 12V line.

Ground locally the ground lead to a good metal screw.

ok cool, thanks. how should i figure out which ignition wire to tap into without messing anything up? with the voltmeter? if i do use that, what should i look for?

Easiest spot is behind the radio. If its an aftermarket deck, yellow is constant 12v, red is switched accessory, and black is ground.

As for if its the stock deck. The stock wiring is, constant 12v is red/black, blue is switched accessory, as for ground find a metal nut since the stock wiring has no ground in it.

Multimeter's are easy to use to detect voltage and ground. PM me if you need more help
