Ok so I recently had the stupid battery ground out on the hood. I couldn't get it to run, so I just replaced the alternator and the battery the very next day and all was well again.

Now about a week later... and this problem has started. The stereo (aftermarket Pioneer) shuts off while the brakes are pressed. As soon as I let off, it comes back on. It is still retaining the memory, so only the ignition 12v wire is being affected.

I'm pretty sure it must be a short somewhere due to the battery/hood incident. Problem is I don't know anything about electrical stuff, so where do I start looking, and with what? Thanks guys.

Oh, and if all else fails, is it possible for me to just hook the power wire into my turbo timer? Thanks.

Just thinking real quick pull out your abs fuse and check to see if it still happens. Then do the same for your taillights. I don't know where else you would be grounding out while pressing the brakes. Limited circuits are completed while the brakes are press. i am thinking it's just so happens you have another eletrical problem not that is has to do with your last one.

You guys... I am a total idiot. But I'm going to go ahead and post the resolution to this for future reference.

My alternator was coming unplugged. It completely came unplugged today on the way to work, almost made it there and the battery died, which is how I found out.

I guess thats better than having a short somewhere... I think my car is just trying to mess with me.

Mine does the exact same thing, except all I have to do is hit the brakes once and it starts and never ends, then just shuts off completely. Still haven't found a reason to this though.

Dude, I have no idea... I still don't see why it was really happening on my car, though I found the problem. Try what the guy in post #2 said, and take out your fuses.
