Put new sunroof in, it works, for the most part...

So I picked up a sunroof today/ The motor on my old one would click on, but nothing happened, and I found this used one for 80 bucks, so I grabbed it.

Well I just put it in, and it was out of a 95 GSX, I have a 95 Talon tsi.

Hard to describe, so here's pictures to do the talking. It WORKS, and opens, raises, closes, etc. But the passenger side is really loose, and this:

Ok, well now Photobucket seems to be broken, and I can't upload pictures.

Well, the rear passenger corner, sticks up.

The entire half inch or so of the frame sticks above the roofline, where it should all be flat. Edit: This is only in the back rear passenger corner.

And when I sit inside with it closed, I can push that side up and down about another half an inch.

And then when it's open, I can wiggle the passenger side around quite a bit.

Annnnd lastly, the holes for the two screws and bolt by the switch, don't line up. Which means also, the little hole for that black box the switch is in, doesn't line up, so it can't tuck up into it.

And I don't know why, or what to really do, I don't think I can really shimmy it around enough to make them line up.

I'll try and get photobucket working to load these, it's hard to explain. :hmm:

Edited for pic:

For the glass issue, make sure all the screws which attach the track to the frame are tight, and that there's nothing blocking the track up front. If that checks out, then you'll need to adjust the drive cables.

For that, pull the headliner so you can get to the motor assembly. Unbolt the motor, so that the drive gear disengages from the cables. The cables bypass one another at the motor, and the excess for the left track ends up on the right side, and vice versa. On your car, since the right side is not seating, grab the end of the cable on the left side, past the motor and up near the windshield where it sticks out of the guide, and pull it to take up the slack. Might as well do both sides while you are in there. Reinstall the motor, making sure the cable does not slip back, and you ought to be good. If that doesn't work, you may need to pull the entire assembly and troubleshoot it out of the car...I've always found it easier to see what's going on that way. You can put the ass'y on the roof on the top side of the sunroof cutout, and connect all the electrics so that you can operate it.

As for the black box, don't sweat screwing it down. That's not going to make a difference. I don't even have mine in the system anymore. Just tape it up there if you need it to be secure, otherwise it'll be fine just hiding under the headliner.

Well I was giong 70 down the freeway today, closed the sunroof, heard a CRACK, opened, closed, heard a lesser crack, and now the thing works fine and closes all the way.

I also got it screwed down.

Thanks for the info though, it's appreciated.
