I want to have my 97 GSX rims powdercoated, and i was looking for a place to do them, then i got to thinking... I bet that with a can of really nice high quality spray paint, some clear coat, and alot of tape; I could make my rims nicely powdercoated so no one would know that i did it myself. I know its not good to go cheap on performance, but i don't see why not with something like this. What do you guys think?

no i have not done it yet because when u read the duplicolor website it says temperatures need to be from 59 to 85 with no humidity. Its only 16 degrees here.

that aircraft remover is some serious stuff. i got some on my leg somehow when i was polishing the lips on my rims and sheesh did it burn. i had to hose off my leg. feels like it is eating the skin right off your body.

yea that shit's no joke, i got some on my hands when i was stripping the rims and didn't realize what the itching was until it started BURNING like a bastard.. guess gloves couldn't hurt :thumb:

Hey, has anyone ever thought about having a body shop paint their wheels? To match the car paint, I mean with prepping, and clear coat, and everything so it's all shiny. Maybe like Maaco or something.

stock1g4g63,I had my 1st of 5 stars painted by a frined of mine that does paint/body work....He only charged my $75 for 4 wheels.Lately i've been using teh rattle can.Since i've changed colors like 5 times already..LOL..I might say i've gotton pretty damn good at it too.
