i think you can do a lot better in manufacturer for a lot less in price. just my humble opinion though...

Well...

I work at bestbuy for the time being, so I get a nice discount on speakers. Everyone on the board recommend Infinity because they're clear and hit nice, but don't have a lot of bass. I figured, I could just add a sub later.

Howie~

Infinity is a good sounding speaker, not the loudest but very very clean sounding. You have a good setup right there matching the amp rms and the speaker rms is good. How are you going to control the amp? does your deck have a front and rear preout?

Jesus Christ! 111W RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms? How loud do you plan on listening to your music? I am running Alpine Type S components and 6x9s (93db) through my Pioneer headunit pushing 22 RMS watts x 4 and it is loud enough. I also have 2 x 12" Polk Momo subs with a 600 RMS watt Alpine Class D amp and a Pioneer headunit with all kinds of neat stuff.

Keep a balance when you buy car audio parts. Unless you plan on running 1500-2000 RMS watts of bass, you don't need 111 W RMS x 4 full range speakers. Just because the speakers are rated at 100 RMS watts, doesn't mean that you need to push that much power - just an opinion. I am assuming you are not buying this for car audio competition.

my cousin just got some oversized 6.5 memphis sound reference's for his chevy 1500.awesome quality.nite and day from factory to them.and his factory speakers were good.
id recommend Memphis to anyone

I know how good of a discount you get at best buy on car audio, so your setup will be fine for the price you pay. Components really do make a difference compared to just coax speaks. Also being amped is night and day. It should be good. I will never run aftermarket speaks with stock/aftermarket deck or run coax speaks in the front.

Hmm,

Thanks for the input. I figured I'd run an amp to the speakers because just in case some ricer comes around w/his shit ass system bumping techno comes around, I can surround myself with a rich, full, crisp sound which will drown out his HORRID setup.

I have a P.O.S. sub. 12" Kicker *dont' know which kind* but it's alright... 300 rms I think. My headunit is just a Panasonic with a couple preouts. Nothing special, but I'm thinking about upgrading it. I'm debating though, because I'd rather get a secuirty system setup first before I upgrade my head unit.

The Pioneer has MOSFET which I don't know much about.. but sounds chock full of audio potential. Seems like the new TECH thing, ya know?

Howie~

Well i've heard them all and yes pioneer does sound nice but jvcs are crap and they both run the mosfet system. I just bought and kenwood and install it today. Very impressed...

See if Best Buy can order a Pioneer Premier unit.

If not the Pioneer DEH-P9800BT has 5 volts preamp outputs, BBE, Digital Sound Processor with 16-band graphic EQ and time alignment, 24-bit Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converter, high- and low-pass filters and subwoofer level control. I'd say go with that. Time alignment (TA) makes it easy. The premier units have auto EQ, I'm not sure if this unit has it.

LOL u can never get to complicated when it comes to sound. If u can get a pioneer premier.. go for it. It would be better then anything u posted on the top of the thread

Well...

I don't know much about sound... I want something that sounds crip and clean, but is easy to control. Tuning an audio system is hard... A little too hard for my tastes.

Oh please, tuning an audio system is not hard! Send me a PM when you get it, I'll walk you through it.

Yea, i would definately recommend pioneer. I just put in my new DEH-6800MP, mostly so i could run a similar setup as you've planned out(except a little cheaper), and the sound is f***in amazing just with the head unit alone. It also has preamp outputs for front, rear, and subs. Its definately way clearer than my old Dual cd player.

Oh, and by the way, I wouldn't get Infinity speakers. I would get some Fosgates or Kicker DS's. I've got Kicker DS 6.5's and 6x9's, and they have deep bass and clear highs. Just my 2 cents.

Or some Alpine Type Ss (NOT TYPE R). When buying speakers compare the db rating. A speaker rated at 93 db will sound twice as loud as a speaker rated at 90 db at the same volume on your CD player. So if I have 93db speakers and I'm pushing 20 Watts RMS, and you have 90db speakers and you are pushing 20 Watts RMS, my speakers will sound twice as loud as yours.

I have almost the same unit as ^^^, except I have the Premier DEH-680MP unit which has high volt preamps outputs. I have my crossovers on the headunit setup for 200Hz, meaning everything above 200Hz goes to all speakers and everything below 200Hz goes to the subs. I can crank my volume up and I get no distortion and it is crisp and clear. Installing the tweeter in the stock 3.5" dash speaker helped too.

Best buy is not a premier dealer and will not be able to order that hu/// also if you get a discount i would highly recommenc infinity... but don't get the reference series..get the kappa... much better speaker. Also if they can ( not sure if b/b is a perfect dealer) if they are get a set of perfect componets and a perfect sub with a kappa 6x9... you will not be disappointed!

I have those exact component and 3-way speakers in my GSX, and they're fantastic for the price - although I got mine new through eBay for much less. Powered by a 4 channel Kenwood amp though.. and a RF 3001 amp to power a 12" Infinity Perfect 12D sub. You won't be disappointed - just make sure to have different gain levels for the components in the front and the 3-ways in the rear.. the 3-ways will put out much more volume at the same input wattage (had to switch to a multichannel instead of wiring the fronts & rears in parallel to solve this issue). I'm only putting about 50W RMS max to them, and there's NO way I could listen at that volume. I rarely go over around 40% total volume/gain so I'm only really using around 20-30RMS at most. For mid's & high's, you simply don't need more than that unless you want your ears to bleed.

As for Infinity Perfect 6.1 components (instead of these reference or kappas).. excellent speakers for the higher price - I decided to put those in my Z instead with a JL Audio 500/5 amp. Those things, I love. :)

jvcs are not crap, i run a jvc kd series, with 5volt preamp, i am not using the built in mosfet amp, as i feel all deck powering aftermarket speakers suck, no matter what brand. i have used sony, pioneer, kenwood, etc. maybe if just upgrading the deck and using no amp, the choice matters more, but from my experience, jvcs make some nice stuff given you are upgrading the other components.

Just for contrast, buy some REAL components and forget alpine, pioneer, sony and kenwood.

e.g. CDT, eD, MB Quart etc etc.

And a good setup will be running over 100watts RMS to each channel of your front stage. Forget rear speakers for now. The stock 6x9's are fine for some rear-fill. I'm tempted to just disconnect mine altogether.

Rear speakers skew the front stage.
Buy a real amp capable of pushing over 100watts @ 4ohm RMS to each channel (2).
Buy a real set of component 6.5" speakers capable of 100+ watt RMS power handling.
Next work towards a nice sub setup. 2 10"'s or even a single 12" is usually sufficient, especially since we have hatchbacks.
Buy an appropriate amp for your sub (s).

Your front stage (your 6.5" component speakers) are 95% of what you hear.
Bass is the other 5% of your music.

Where do you want your money spent?
