Alright I got a question for you guys...Back when I was looking for my Eclipse I took a look at a couple Eclipse that had their passenger side Air Bag cover completely warped to all hell! Seeing how I found it on a couple I figured this might have been a problem with all Eclipses (at least the 95-96 models) Anyway, although my air bag cover is currently fine it looks as if the edges might be starting to come up so I was just woundering if anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it? By the way does anyone know why this happens? The sun maybe?

hmmmm, more that i think about it...i think mine may be getting that way. doubt it's sun tho, i keep my car garaged, have 5% limo tint and armor all that isht like every week. so i dunno.

got this same problem with my 95 talon....i just picked up the car 2 days ago so i havent done anything with it yet and really dont know what the hell to do?????? come on someones gotta have an idea

Mine was doing it a little but it was like that when I bought the car. If I am going to have it in the sun for a long time I just put one of those window shades in and it hasn't gotten any worse in the past 3 years.

my did and i glued it down. i used clamps and other sorts of things to keep pressure while the glue dried

My 95 GSX's passenger side airbag cover has peeled back on one of the corners anyone recomend what kind of sealent/glue I would use to fix this?

No the bag has not/is not deployed the cover's seal has simply failed and the cover has peeled back.

Stuper glue?

Was that a pun?

I think perhaps super glue would be a little too harsh on my dash that stuff works by melting what it is bonding to in order to make a seal. I think I'll go ask the dealer when my car is in for some maitenence and play dumb as to how they can fix it then just do what they say they are going to do myself. I'm sure they aren't going to do anything more than "super glue" it.

Hell if it doesn't cost that much I might just let them do it to save myself the hassle.

Mine is doing the same thing, i took the airbag assembly out and used epoxy glue on it a c clamped it to hold it and let it dry for 3 days and it still didn't work, if u find anything pleaselet me know.

Was it JBWELD?

I would that that if you used some 5 min JBWeld Epoxy (The kind where you mix the 2 chemicals together)
It would hold fine.. Apply ALOT in there, and clamp it. Should work?

no it wasn't jb weld it was a different brand but yeah it is the kind that u mix together but it did not work i did use a lot.

ILOL

Wouldn't it suck if someone sealed it up so good that the air bag didn't deploy right?

I don't know why that was so funny to me, I just got a great mental image of what that would look like.

...ok piss off it was a LONG day at work (just me and one other Tech running the shop all damn day) so cut me some slack if I want to laugh at retarded crap:thumb:

the exact thing is happening to my 1995 eclipse gst the front right corner is peeling to and i tried to glue it with several types of glues and put weights to hold it down untill the glue dried and it dried i took it off and it did hold but ten minutes of being in the sun light and it just peeled right back off. there is not any thing that will work itried every thing! i think i will just have to go down to the dealer and try to get a new one because it looks really bad!!! and if i cant get one from them i can go to the junk yard!

 how many other people have there air bag cover on there pasenger side peeling off on the corners?? on mine i have the right corner peeling off and it looks so crappy just tell me if u have the same problem??:dsm:

it is mostly on 95 eclipses thts what i heard and seen on others. i guess after 95 mitsubisi desided to use a different material for the cover?

thanks

This hunting season I made a second ghillie specifically for the area I would be in and I didn't want to sew the stupid thing so I used Shoe Goo. This stuff is the strongest adhesive I've ever used in my life, I used it to attatch my netting to my suit and it's so strong that my little brother can hang on it and it won't tear or separate.

It's also what I'm going to use on my air bag cover as soon as it warms up (it's about 30-40 degree's on average here and that isn't warm enough for the stuff to cure). I'd recomend it but the stuff is really toxic so you might not want to drive your car with the windows up for a good day or two.
