I recently bought, and am installing the alpine iva-d310 dvd player w/ motorized 7" monitor. its a very nice product, but I'm trying to figure out how to bypass the safety feature that disables video to the screen when the car's emergency brake isn't on. You are supposed to do a sequence: push brake pedal down, pull up e-brake, let down e-brake, and pull up e-brake again, then let off brake pedal. I searched different forums but the only thing I get is that I have to have 2 switches, one to simulate the brake pedal, and one for the e-brake. I tried but I don't know which to ground, which to hook to power, constant or ignition, etc. I looked into auto switches, but I'm not sure. Any info would be great. thanks much.

in all 50 states, it is illegal to drive with your monitor on. and i do not condone your decision to bypass the safety switch, and neither will your Insurance company should that ever come up

that being said, the brake pedal is + and ebrake is -

so get two switches, one to simulate brake pedal (+) and one to simulate ebrake (-). not that hard really. same as hooking it up to your actual ebrake and brake, only now your using switches.

also available are bypass modules that can be had on ebay for around $50 or less that do this sequence for you each time you start the car.

again, i think it is a bad idea. but who am i to say? i have an Alpine IVA-D900 in my car too!

just don't be stupid and drive around while watching a movie... very distracting

thank you very much for the info, i'll give it a try. much appreciated!!!
