A friend on mine doesn't understand why you would put hood pins on a CF hood, I tried explaining it but i'm not sure my words came out right (everclear, i'm sure some of you understand). If anyone could post their .02 on why you need hood pins for a carbon fiber hood or post pics of what has happened when they ran a CF hood without pins it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

P.S.-I already searched and couldn't find a damn thing on this subject

you put them on because cf hood are much lighter than the stock hood and when driving fast the wind would creep in that gap which will pop the hood right open thus damaging the windshield and cf hood. so put hood pins on since it will save you a lot of money.

I have had a CF hood for over two years with out hood pins and never had a problem even at frequent runs over 100mph. However I do worry about often as at those speeds the hood seems to shake alot and I have recently been considering hood pins. I guess higher quality hoods most likely have higher quality lactch assemblies than cheaper hoods I know I often inspect the area around the latch for cracks. For peace of mind hood pins maybe a good idea.

The pins hold the hood down. Sometimes while driving the air will get under the hood and actually rip the hood right off the latch and smash it against your windshield.

If I had a cf hood id have them on no matter how much I payed for the hood. It just something I wouldnt want to have to worry about.

I'm not too familar with carbon fiber hoods, but what is it about the latch that makes it easy to separate from the hood? Is it difficult to attach the latch to the carbon fiber hood or what?

my brand new vis came up at 20mph and busted the windshield, busted the hood a bunch, and dented the roof. Pin it.
