I'm appreciated if anyone could help me w/ this.

I purchase a GSX from a guy w/ an cd controller in deck, but i doesn't come w/ cd reciever so I chg it back to the stock cd player that came w/ the car. 1st time i got it on, it asked for code and I input 3 times wrong cuz' i didn't know what's that. It keeps showing "OFF" on the screen. So i did search on this forum and found that i need the code from dealer, so i did. The other day while i was driving on freeway, i tried to push the radio pwr button, all of a sudden it shows "code", so i put in the right code and it works! i was so happy that i didn't even hv to try out the method the dealer told me. Then I parked my car cuz' i was going to hv lunch and when i start my car agagin after that, the radio shows "OFF" again. So i tried the method that put the key in "ACC" and waited for 1hr30min, it keeps showing "OFF". I even tried to leave the key there overnite, but it still shows "OFF".

I wanna make sure what i did was correct,
-turn the key to "ACC"
-leave the radio on but blank on the screen for 1hr30mins or more
-push the pwr button to make the "code" appear
at least this is what the dealer told me, is it correct? and does these symtoms showing that my memory cable has sth wrong?

Thx for any input~

Are your preset stations staying in memory? Almost sounds like something is messed up.

It appears that you are powering the radio with a switched power source, not a constant power source. It loses your radio code because there is no constant power to the radio to maintain memory after you switch off the ignition. Use a voltmeter to find the correct power wire and switch it with the wire you're using now.
