Ok i have a question. as any one or how would or what would be the best way to get this fmic i am buying from black to the aluminum color ?? i was thinkin sand blasting and polishing it but i am afraid sand blasting this aluminum will pit it.. then i thought about acid bath but i dont wanna eat the fins away so i am stuck on how to do this or if its even possible has and one ever done this ??? ideas would be great cause i am stumped thanx !!!

I wouldn't mess with it. Some sort of proper acid bath sounds like the best route if someone can tell you where to take it and what the proper bath solution is.

If you sand blast the fins, you will flatten them... not exactly what you want.

Buy some paint stripper, making sure that it is Al safe. Test a section on the back of the IC first!

If you don't care about the fins being black then just polish the end tanks as usual.. the paint will come off in the process.

:thumb: i will have to try it i just dont think it would look right with the fins being black all thoe the car is black

go to your auto store they have cans of stripper we used it on my friends car the paint came off so fast it was crazy spray like crazy then blast with water but not too hard it shuld come off be carefull with fins

yeah i dont know what i am going to do i gess i will just wait for it to get here then test diffrent things on it but the paint remover sounds like the best way just scared of the fins

I did this once to a black intercooler and we used AIRCRAFT STRIPPER... (pepboys)

worked in like 20 mins to completely SHINY aluminum color !
