This is a thread started to see if any1 else has added any race chips to there Eagle Talon's or Eclipse... I'm trying to install a stage 1 Race chip G-Box to the MAS/IAT system.. Has any1 heard or have done this mod. to there car?

I don't know about the 4G63 but they make a Mopar chip for the 420A, 500 bucks for 6 hp, not worth it.

Does any1 know what wire is the main power wire and which wire is your IAT wire???.. That comes off your air intake box, that every1 calls the MAS....

I have G-Box stage 2, very easy to install. It realy gives more fuel, so I bought better spark plugs. I think it add's some more hp

Im still planning to get that Apexi SAF-C 2 knob style, I heared sum good things about it and its not that hard to install...I dunno where the IAT wires located but im guessing its somewhere close to the intake MAS sensors...i'll try to find it out...later.

I still have not hook my g-box up yet. I just gave up. if any1 finds the right wires let me know...

I got the answer for you. I bought the exact same device, spent 2 months researching for the same damn question. Finally emailed the company, they gave me the answer. But the two wires you are looking for are INSIDE the air box. There is a black, and a black with a white stripe wire coming from the honeycomb and running to the connector. First, know that the two wires on the G-Box itself are the opposite of common sense. The black wire is the power, and the red one is ground. I know, completely messed up. Tell it to the company, another reason not to use it. That is my second piece of advice. Even with all of my mods, car did not like the chip, ran too rich under city driving conditions, especially at idle. From 3500 to 6000 rpms, there was some improvement, but not enough to ruin your spark plugs. Anyway, if you want to go through with this. Connect the black wire on the box to the black/white wire on your air box. Simply cut the wires, add connectors to the factory wires as well as the box wires and then close the circuit. When you decide to remove it, simply plug the factory wires back together. Good luck. If nothing else, I do have to admit that the car ran better with the chip before I did a whole lot of mods. So if you are pretty stock and looking for a cheap additive, might help you out. But like I said, the more I did to my car, the worse it ran with the chip. Now with it off, no complaints whatsoever.

:talon: :shhh:

So is this the real deal? I might sample the chip and its performance gains or losses....
I just ordered NGK plugs and wires, so when i install those I might also install the chip. Evan though I have alot of mods. done to my car, I hope it does some good. I hate to have this G-Box chip sitting around doing nothing and I spent like $20 on it...
Also how did you find out the info. to install this and how did that person know?....

The maker of the G-Box has their own web site where you can purchase it directly, not thruough an ebay provider. Look on the box itself, or the paperwork that came with it to find the website or name of the company who makes it. Can't remember off hand. From there I got their customer service information and contacted the company directly. They made the damn thing, so they have all the information about it. They were actually pretty helpful with answering my questions. I tried every service station around my area, and none of them heard of the wire you had to look for. Wasn't even in the service manuals. The company reps. are the ones that told me where it was and that they messed up with the color coordination of the positive and negative wires on the box itself. Once you put it in, run with it about a month or two, document your fuel milage and then check your new plugs to see what they look like. See if you notice a performance difference. On brand new plugs after only 3 weeks, I started fouling the plugs from running too rich. Since I removed them, have had better gas milage and no other problems whatsoever. I was always told "Lean is Mean". You need more air than fuel in order to produce horsepower. I never compared the results at the track yet, but street racing, I think it is more responsive without it. It just dumps too much fuel at the low rpms for your engine to keep up and get any results. Just a thought to keep in mind. Not every car is the same, so maybe it will do good for yours. :thumb:

Ok, that's it. You guys have convinced me to either try and resell my box or just give it away. This is my daily driver and I can't risk screwing anything up. All Hail the Daily Driver Talon... :talon:

Question?......
are you sure you hook the right wires up?....
it says the hot wire is for the 12v line wich is red on the box,
and then the black wire to the IAT witch should be a 5v line....
is this true or is it backwards...\
I think i will try both ways and then decide...

I bought a chip by z1 racing....anyone know about it ? It was off ebay motors .....anyone herad anything about it

I was just going according to what the company told me. They even admitted that it was their mistake doing it this way. Hopefully crossing it doesn't screw anything up for ya. But I had it hooked up with the black as positive and the red as the ground and it did work. It might be better to lose the $20 that you payed for it then pay for hundreds of dollars in damages to fix what could go wrong. Just some food for thought. Good luck. Let us know what you think. The only true way that you are going to notice a differnce though, is to run some official times with and without the device hooked up, or use a dyno.

I have not heard of the chip. does it sound like somthing we are talking about?

If you guys are talking about the same chip I purchased, they are very very bad! You will have boiling coolant in no time. The chips run the engine too hot and rich. If you idle more than about a minute then you'll stall like crazy in the middle of traffic most times. It is not only embarassing but bogus. Your engine was never meant to run like that. Your basically fooling your sensors and making them useless which is never a good thing. I would STRONGLY advise against using any of these products and attempt to return these if you have purchased. There are much better mods that can be done, other than fooling your sensors.

Merely trying to help. :)

thanks for all the input on this matter..
I dont know if i will put my chip in. i might just sell it to some racer that might be able to use it, or that just does'nt car for the car.... but i see there is only one way to find out if it does work..
Question to all the people that have used the chip and then removed it...
After removeing the chip, did your engine go back to running normal, or did it run different?

Mine ran normal again...if there is such a thing. With putting in all the different mods, there seems to always be something that needs to be worked on or fine tuned. Normal to me is pretty much stock, which left my car a long time ago. Good luck! :thumb:
