HP Challange

Heres the challenge:
As much HP on a limited budget, say around $1,500. My caris goin in the shop around the end of summer, engine is getting completely torn down and rebuilt into new block. I'm not exactly a mechanic (know enough to get me by) but so far, I have several ideas:

cylinders bored
shaved head
larger TB
header
2.5" exhaust
maybe MSD ignition (depending on the budget)
I would like to do forged pistons, but again, damn budget
aftermarket cams, either HKS 264's or 272's.

I am also considering a turbo, but I would have to lower the compression, just not sure if its worth it.

what would you do?

Since your engine is going to be built anyway, I would go with a turbo set-up. You shouldn't have any trouble getting everything you need for the conversion...as long as you keep the boost low, you shouldn't have a problem.

But here are a few ideas anyway:

Tune-Up! (i.e. plugs, wires, timming)
K&N filter (with cut-can)
91+ Turbo Cams
GST Exhaust (cat-back, its the same except 2.25").

I've personally had sealing issues with shaved cylinder heads....but maybe you can get it to work. Just be sure you have a spare head around.
At this point I doubt an MSD ignition would be very benificial. The stock ignition system is quite good.
